The first Bayonetta was a bit of a surprise to fans and critics alike. It focused on a witch named Bayonetta who had been trapped on the bottom of a lake and was revived 20 years before the start of the game. Missing far too many of her memories, she battles her way through the world, trying to put the pieces together.

Both the first and second games were hits that did extremely well. Not surprisingly, a third game in the franchise has been in development for a while, and there are more than a few things fans would like to see incorporated into it or fixed from the previous entry.

The Bayonetta franchise is famous for an engaging mix of fighting styles, much of which included using guns in some surprisingly creative and innovative ways. The fights actually get pretty interesting.

One thing that would make the next game even better would be giving players a bigger range of weapons to choose from. Getting more choice in how the enemies get demolished is a great way to make gameplay more engaging and unique.

Harder, More Diverse Enemies

Keeping in mind that Bayonetta 2 is largely considered to be a triumph of game design, there were a few upgrades that could make the next installment even better.

One issue that some players pointed out was that the enemies tended to be repetitive, which can get a little tedious. Once the player has really upgraded the main character, those same enemies become incredibly easy to tear through. A wider range of enemies would be nice.

Increasing the difficulty level of the overall game provides a lot more challenges for anyone playing it. That will also serve to increase the replay value of the next game in the franchise, which could be key going forward.

More Playable Characters

One of the things that set the second game apart from the first was the multiplayer mode. This included a range of playable characters that players could unlock by working their way through the game.

Expanding the multiplayer mode and increasing the number of playable characters would be a great way to mix up the gameplay. There are a lot of options for new characters that already exist within that world. And there is plenty of room to establish new ones.

Get Crazier With Every Aspect

The simple reality of the overall Bayonetta franchise is that almost every aspect of it is absolutely bonkers. The underlying premise is already a little odd, but the minds behind it aren’t afraid to get even weirder with it. And that’s a good thing.

That being said, there’s no reason that the next game can’t get even more ridiculous. Take everything that makes Bayonetta absurd and unique, then turn the dial up to 11. This is one of those franchises where pretty much anything can plausibly happen.

Bigger Variety Of Combos

The big fun in Bayonetta is the fighting. It’s fast-paced and at times brutal. On top of that, Bayonetta is a butt-kicking witch who isn’t afraid to fight her way through virtually any threat that pops up in front of her.

Part of her fighting style includes some impressive and fantastic combos. But there’s no reason not to take things up a notch in the next game. If the developers increase the multiplayer options, that could be a big part of upgrading the combos.

Expanding The World

Bayonetta has been built in a world that is unlike anything seen in most other games. It’s a strange mix of religion, mythology, and science fiction, all wrapped up in a nice anime-inspired bow.

The next game provides an incredible opportunity to roll in a variety of new concepts. There are a wide range of different mythologies and mystical concepts to draw on, any of which would make sense in this world.

Advancing The Story More

While the action and adventure elements of the Bayonetta games is undeniable, there are some improvements that could be made to the story. Specifically, the third game could do a lot more to progress it to the next level.

No one would ever suggest that the previous two games had bad stories, but it still seems like fans should know more about the world and the characters at this point. Now that the franchise has gotten this big, it’s time to flesh out the narrative a lot more.

Improvements To The Combat Mechanics

A bigger range of weapons. Expanding the combos. More playable characters. This all feeds into the combat mechanics of the game, which can always use refinement between releases, no matter how good the previous game was.

But it also should be stated that any of these improvements to the combat mechanics are minor at best. These are tweaks that could take an A to an A+, which is a game that virtually anyone would want to play.

Not A Nintendo Exclusive

The unfortunate reality is that not everyone is going to get to play this game. Bayonetta was released for a variety of systems, including various incarnations of Nintendo, PlayStation, and Microsoft consoles.

On the other hand, Bayonetta 2 was a Nintendo exclusive and it looks like the same will be true of Bayonetta 3. While that’s unlikely to change, it would be nice to see the franchise make a return to other consoles.
