Battlefield 2042 Player Spots Helicopters In A Flock

During a Battlefield 2042 match, a player spotted an odd swarm of helicopters flying through the sky like a flock of birds. DICE’s latest shooter launched in a rough state across all platforms, with immersion-breaking glitches that have caused some to compare the new Battlefield to Cyberpunk 2077 in terms of the quality of its release. The crew at DICE continues to work towards remedying the myriad issues currently plaguing the title, however.

One such fix went live a day ahead of release in a day one patch, which addressed problems with rubber banding, display name errors, and weapon-related hiccups. The second major update went live yesterday, November 26, and tackled a series of critical bugs, vehicle balance changes, bullet spread reduction on shotguns, and performance-based stability improvements. Battlefield 2042’s third patch, its biggest yet, could surface as early as next week, packing in additional quality of life enhancements, balance changes, and performance boosts. On some occasions, though, the litany of bugs can provide quite a bit of entertainment.

Ahead of Battlefield 2042’s most recent update, Reddit user Draxtonsmitz shared a screenshot of an incredibly strange in-game sighting. The image in question shows a close-up through sniper scope of about two dozen helicopters clumped together in the air and flying in a manner reminiscent of a flock of birds. Naturally, the Reddit thread runs rampant with jokes about migration patterns, experimental military technology, and how the planet’s magnetic field may have something to do with this odd behavior. Check out the screenshot in the post linked below:

Since Draxtonsmitz shared the image about a day or so before the second Battlefield 2042 patch, it’s possible this particular error no longer occurs. It’s an interesting sight to behold, though, arguably making this one of the game’s funniest glitches yet.

An online-only entry in the long-running military shooter series, Battlefield 2042 takes place in a near-future setting where humanity is enduring the most devasting crisis in human history. The backstory regarding the state of things in the world of Battlefield 2042 seems intriguing enough, but the lack of a story campaign means players don’t get to explore the finer details in any real depth. Some amongst the Battlefield faithful are already hoping this won’t become the norm for the series going forward.

Battlefield 2042 is available to play now across the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
