Battlefield 2042 Open Beta Release Date Has Leaked

Thanks to a listing on an Italian website, Battlefield 2042‘s open beta dates for this month have prematurely made the rounds online. During EA Play Live, Electronic Arts and developer DICE shared cursory details about beta plans for Battlefield 2042. The companies merely confirmed that an open beta would go live sometime in September, though neither has confirmed specific dates.

DICE hosted a closed technical alpha from August 12 through August 15, allowing select users to join playtests that spanned five sessions across three hours apiece. Despite standard non-disclosure agreements, participants leaked a host of footage from the technical playtest sessions, unveiling a closer look at Battlefield 2042’s ground-based skirmishes and vehicular combat. Sometime this month, an even larger audience can expect to go hands-on with the eagerly-anticipated shooter, thanks to the aforementioned closed beta whose dates may have leaked online.

A recent listing on Italian storefront Media World (via VGC) notes that those who preorder Battlefield 2042 prior to September 3 will gain access to an “early beta” expected to last from September 6 through September 11. While EA and DICE previously confirmed an open beta for this month, the Media World listing, which is in Italian, suggests the access period could begin as early as next Monday. If Media World’s listing proves accurate and the open beta is indeed scheduled to go live early next week, EA and DICE should confirm as much in the coming days. How and when such a reveal may hit the web is anyone’s guess at this point, however. Screen Rant has reached out to EA for comment.

EA has also promised early access to the beta for EA Play members and those who pre-order one of Battlefield 2042’s many versions. Plus, pre-purchasing the Gold Edition or Ultimate Edition will additionally net fans early access to the game itself on October 15. The Gold Edition, priced at $99.99, packs in a few in-game items and the Year 1 Pass, the latter of which includes four Specialists, four Battle Passes, and three Epic Skin Bundles. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Edition that bears a $120 price tag boasts everything in the Gold, in addition to the Midnight Ultimate Bundle, Digital Artbook, and an exclusive Digital Soundtrack.

Battlefield 2042 is slated to hit PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms on October 22.
