Battlefield 2042 All-Out Warfare AI Bots Confirmed As Not Optional

Battlefield 2042 All-Out Warfare AI Bots Confirmed As Not Optional

Publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed that players will not have the option to opt-out of playing with AI bots in Battlefield 2042‘s All-Out Warfare mode. Upon recently unveiling Battlefield 2042, EA and developer DICE teased multiple modes for the online-only experience. All-Out Warfare and Hazard Zone count among two of the detailed offerings, while official information on additional modes remains under lock and key.

All-Out Warfare is particularly intriguing in that it boasts two gameplay modes of its own, Conquest and Breakthrough. Conquest should prove more ambitious than ever, courtesy of sandbox gameplay that allows 128 players to jump into the same map across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Breakthrough will feature its own large-scale offerings, pitting two squads – Attackers and Defenders – against one another in an experience that should please those looking for strategic play options. Interestingly, in the event that All-Out Warfare matches can’t attract a full 128 players, the massive servers will be backfilled with AI bots.

A Battlefield 2042-centric Q&A post from Electronic Arts confirms that players won’t have the ability to opt out of playing alongside AI bots during All-Out Warfare’s 128-player experiences. Generally speaking, though, users should never encounter a situation where AI soldiers outnumber real players in a match. The goal is to ensure players take matchmaking priority over bots; therefore, if a game can only conjure up 120 players, eight AI soldiers will join the ranks. In circumstances where one player leaves, remaining users can expect a bot to promptly take their place until another person enters the fray.

This seems the ideal solution for tackling an issue that could eventually prove troublesome, especially later in Battlefield 2042’s life cycle. At the very least, it suggests All-Out Warfare players should never run into a problem with an unbalanced player count.

A litany of Battlefield 2042’s online offerings remain under wraps as of now. Fortunately, DICE plans to lift the veil in the very near future during EA Play Live 2021, which airs later this month on July 22 at 10:00 AM PT. In addition to disclosing news about previously announced content, the EA Play Live showing for Battlefield 2042 will also see DICE announce the game’s mystery mode, which rumors indicate may come in the form of Battlefield Hub.

Battlefield 2042 comes to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on October 22.
