The future Batman is going to have to team up with an unlikely ally in the upcoming Batman Beyond #44. Solicits reveals Terry McGinnis is going to have to join forces with Damian Wayne in order to take down an even bigger threat.
You might think Batman teaming up with the former Batman’s son wouldn’t be all that surprising. However, Damian isn’t on Terry and Bruce Wayne’s team. In the comic, Damian ends up as the successor to his grandfather Ra’s al Ghul as the leader of the League of Assassins. You can imagine that’s put him directly against Batman. However, the upcoming solicits for Batman Beyond #44 has the two teaming up as Damian’s status with the league is thrown out the window.
After the conclusion of the Batwoman Beyond Arc, Terry will run into Damian’s dragon-bat pet Goliath. While it’s unclear how Goliath was split up from Damian, but it seems pretty likely it’s looking for help for its wounded master. The new solicit also teases that Terry is set to learn that Damian has been ousted as the leader of the League of Assassins and been left for dead by his grandfather’s former ally Mr. Zero. The book will feature Terry and Damian working out their differences to take on the new threat.
It’s going to be fascinating to see if Terry and Damian can get along well enough to take down Mr. Zero. Caught in the middle of the infighting will be Bruce, who’s like a father-figure to Terry and is Damian’s actual father. It’s got to be a confusing time for him, as Damian spurned him and took up the mantle of his former enemy in R’as al Ghul. Perhaps, the issue will be the start of Damian’s turn to redemption. Although, it would be equally as believable if he wanted to down Mr. Zero to get his throne back with the League.
