Batman Beat Darkseid’s Deadliest Power With a Genius Contingency Plan Invention

Batman has contingency plans for just about every villain and hero in the DC Universe — including one that can completely and utterly depower Darkseid. As one of the most powerful villains DC has to offer, it’s even more impressive that Batman managed to defeat Darkseid with only a pair of goggles.

During the events of Dark Nights: Metal, Batman is being haunted by Barbatos and decides the only way to stop him is to prevent the event that brought Batman to Barbatos’ attention. To accomplish this, Batman decides to go back in time, and he plans to do this by controlling Darkseid in Dark Nights: Metal #2 by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion, and FCO Plascencia.

Batman is in possession of a baby version of Darkseid, and he intends to use this to go back in time by controlling Darkseid’s Omega Effect. He manages this by using a pair of Godwave Goggles that completely remove Darkseid’s power.

Batman’s Godwave Goggles Are the Perfect Anti-Darkseid Weapons

Comic book panel: Batman holding Baby Darkseid

Darkseid is one of the most powerful villains in the DC Universe and has obliterated the Justice League in the past. Part of the reason he can do this is because of his Omega Effect. The Omega Effect allows Darkseid to fire energy beams from his eyes, which can do essentially whatever he wants. He can revive people, instantly kill people, teleport them back through time, and so much more. It’s his greatest strength and one of the powers that makes him so dangerous, which is why it’s so absurd that Batman can completely negate this power.

Batman states to Superman and Wonder Woman in this issue that the only reason Darkseid hasn’t blasted them all, even in baby form, is due to the Godwave Goggles he has on. These Godwave Goggles seem to completely negate Darkseid’s ability to use the Omega Effect, which is a huge advantage. If Batman was able to construct a helmet and get it onto Darkseid, he’d lose the majority of his effectiveness in combat. While doing this is easier said than done, between the strength and speed of Superman and the Flash, it shouldn’t be completely impossible.

Batman always has contingency plans that he can fall back on for dangerous villains. One of the things he usually relies on to fight Darkseid is the Hellfire Batsuit, but the Godwave Goggles seem even more effective. As long as someone is able to get the goggles onto Darkseid, his power will decrease massively, and the Justice League could very well bring him down. This is why Batman’s most brilliant contingency plan for Darkseid is a simple pair of goggles.
