Batman: Arkham’s Creepiest Villain Tease Is Bad News For Task Force X

Batman: Arkham’s Creepiest Villain Tease Is Bad News For Task Force X

While Brainiac has been touted as the primary villain of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a creepy Easter egg from Batman: Arkham Knight may hint at a secondary villain coming into play. An official continuation of the Batman: Arkham series, Suicide Squad: KTJL will take place after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, as Amanda Waller establishes the iconic Suicide Squad to prevent global disaster at the hands of Brainiac. Promotional material for Suicide Squad: KTJL has featured The Flash, Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman as potential obstacles for Task Force X, both as instruments of Brainiac and as the heroic Justice League members. It is possible, however, that Brainiac and his mind-control could be a misdirect from another supervillain.

Batman: Arkham Knight‘s DLC left many questions in its wake, including the ultimate fates of most of Batman’s rogues gallery of villains. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will hopefully answer some of those questions, especially those that pertain to the fates of Harley Quinn and the Penguin (the latter of which was also featured in gameplay trailers). Many other Batman villains have seen screen time in the Batman: Arkham series, including Scarecrow, the Riddler, and Two-Face. Suicide Squad: KTJL could sidestep them all, in favor of following a minor but note-worthy cameo by Starro in Arkham Knight‘s A Matter of Family DLC.

Starro the Conqueror, a towering alien starfish recently featured as the villain in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, is also one of Batman: Arkham‘s most obscure villain Easter eggs. Starro can be found in a hidden room in Seagate Amusement Park, the primary setting featured in the Batgirl: A Matter of Family DLC. While Starro may seem like a throwaway inclusion by Rocksteady and co-developer Warner Bros. Games Montréal, buried in the pipes and ducts of Seagate Amusement Park, it could provide the answer behind the mind control plot in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Suicide Squad: KTJL – Brainiac Could Be Teaming Up With Starro The Conqueror

It would make for an interesting plot twist if Brainiac’s greater plans for world domination in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League somehow included Starro. The Batman: Arkham games are certainly never lacking in dramatic plot twists, and making the long-time Justice League villain Starro a part of the story would make sense given his penchant for mind control. Brainiac also seems like the perfect villain for Suicide Squad: KTJL, subverting the evil Superman trope and giving the Suicide Squad a high-value target worth killing. If Brainiac was set on teaming up with another mind-controller, it would mean sky-high stakes for Task Force X.

With or without Starro, Brainiac is out for blood in the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Although it’s been faced with a number of delays, more information surrounding the title should hopefully come following the release of DC’s next game, Gotham Knights. Whether or not Starro will feature, however, remains to be seen.
