Back To The Future Art Casts Robert Downey Jr. & Tom Holland As Doc Brown & Marty McFly

Back To The Future Art Casts Robert Downey Jr. & Tom Holland As Doc Brown & Marty McFly

New Back to the Future AI art imagines Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. in the roles of Marty McFly and Doc Brown, respectively. In the original, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd famously portrayed the roles of Marty and Brown. The sci-fi classic follows Marty as he tests out Brown’s DeLorean time machine. However, his foray into the past threatens his existence when he inadvertently prevents his parents from falling in love. Back to the Future is already considered one of the greatest films of all time, but some still entertain the idea of a reboot with modern casting.

The company DeLorean Rental took to Instagram to share AI-generated art imagining Holland and Downey in another Back to the Future movie.

In the caption, the company teases how interesting a fourth installment of Back to the Future would be with Holland and Downey. Meanwhile, the photo sees the actors standing side by side in Brown’s and Marty’s signature costumes, with the time-traveling DeLorean in the background.

Back To The Future Cast & Character Guide

Back To The Future is a classic 1980’s sci-fi adventure from director Robert Zemeckis and here’s a guide to its cast and characters.

Will There Ever Be A Back To The Future Remake?

The AI art is far from the first to depict Holland and Downey in a Back to the Future remake, as for years, the pair have been a popular choice for franchise fan casting. While Holland is getting to the point where he is aging out of the McFly role, it’s worth noting that Fox was 23 when portraying the 17-year-old character. Fox was known for portraying characters younger than him due to his youthful looks, allowing him to add more depth, maturity, and nuance to his teenage roles.

Hence, it’s not entirely out of the question for Holland to appear in a Back to the Future remake. Meanwhile, viewers would enjoy seeing him reunited with his Marvel Cinematic Universe co-star, Downey, although Jim Carrey is another popular choice for Brown. While the fan castings are fun to think about, they raise the question of whether a remake will ever truly happen. Holland actually did reveal a producer approached him about a possible remake. However, nothing came of the encounter, as there has been no news of a remake or reboot.

The lack of a remake is not surprising, as co-writers Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, as well as Lloyd, have shut down the idea of any further films unless the original cast returns and Marty is not recast. Unfortunately, Fox is retired, and his Parkinson’s diagnosis means returning to the franchise would be nearly impossible. Still, the franchise has had quite a long life in the form of sequels and TV series. Additionally, most realize that Back to the Future was nearly perfect and doesn’t need a remake or reboot, making fan castings little more than harmless fun.
