Thurston quickly became a fan favorite on Matt James’ season of The Bachelor when she verbally stood up against the bullies and mean girls who overtook the season. She showed maturity and confidence and quickly stole the hearts of fans all over the country. After being sent home, she was named the new lead for season 17 of The Bachelorette. Bullying wasn’t the only issue with James’ season. Harrison found himself in deep water after making controversial comments about contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, leading to a lot of backlash. Because of this, Bristowe and Tayshia Adams were named the new hosts of the season.
Bristowe sat down with the podcast hosts of Bachelor Happy Hour to discuss how hosting the season went and what advice she gave to Thurston during filming. She said, “It was nice to be a mentor” to Thurston as she walked through her journey to find love. She advised Thurston to not get too caught up in her role on The Bachelorette and to not focus on what she thinks America wants to see from her. Instead, she should be her authentic, genuine self, and that will help her find a relationship that’s going to last.
Thurston got great advice from a former Bachelorette who knows how the show works and has experience walking in Thurston’s shoes. Bristowe didn’t stop there when it came to showing her support for Thurston, even after filming ended. She told Bachelor Happy Hour that she sent a bottle of wine to Thurston for each week as she watches her season air. She also revealed that she told Thurston she would happily fly out to meet her to watch the season together in person. Bristowe said she thinks this season is filled with women empowerment and relatable moments, which is why she thinks it is going to be successful.
Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette has been long-awaited, but the season premiere is almost here.
