Bachelorette: Justin Feels Katie & Blake’s Relationship Was ‘Weird’

Bachelorette runner-up Justin Glaze is calling Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes relationship “weird” following their engagement. Justin immediately became a fan favorite early on in the season for his telling facial expressions. They became highlights of the season, with some of his expressions even turning into internet memes. Aside from his iconic expressions, Justin ended up having a deep connection with Katie that allowed him to stay on the show until the very end.

While Justin and the former Bachelorette formed a strong bond, he didn’t receive her final rose. Right before the final rose ceremony, Katie decided to send Justin home so he didn’t have to go through the heartbreak of her turning down his proposal. Plus, the 30-year-old knew in her heart Blake was the one all along and didn’t want to lead on Justin. Even though Justin and Katie did not work out, the two left each other as friends.

During an interview on the Almost Famous podcast with Bachelor alums Ashley Iaconetti and Ben Higgins, the 27-year-old spoke about his experience and his thoughts on Blake and Katie’s engagement. Justin admitted that while it was odd Blake decided to go on the show alongside his good friend Brendan Scanzano, he knew Blake had every intention to find love with Katie. “From the second Blake came in, it did feel like his objective was to make it to the end and propose to Katie,” the investment sales consultant shared. “He’s very close with Brendan from the house. Some of the guys were skeptical [of] Blake coming halfway through, and Brendan was kind of the guy that reassured everyone [that] even back home, he always talked highly of Katie.”

The show didn’t get into Blake and Brendan’s long history on the show, but Justin was surprised Blake would show up halfway through to date the same woman as one of his good friends. “It’s weird, right?,” he continued. “Because I think about my friends, and in the real world, if one of my friends pulled up on me when I’m trying to date a girl...” Justin then broke into laughter but assured the host and listeners that he does think Blake is a great guy for Katie. Later on, in the interview, the runner-up touched on Greg Grippo’s departure that almost led Katie to quit the show. “I imagine it was tough for Blake to see because I know how I felt watching everything back, feeling like I was potentially there by default,” he said. “That seems like a very expedited timeline […] wanting to book the flight and go home, to a few days later confessing love.”

Overall, Justin is happy for Blake and Katie even if he found Blake’s addition to the show to be a bit “weird.” Even though Justin didn’t find love on The Bachelorette, he is more than grateful for his experience on the show and getting to fall in love with Katie. Now that Michelle Young’s season is underway, maybe Justin can try his hand at a relationship with her.
