Bachelor: Kelley Flanagan Shares ‘Intense’ Lyme Disease Treatment

The Bachelor star Kelley Flanagan is updating fans about her Lyme disease treatment. Kelley rose to Bachelor Nation fame by competing on Peter Weber’s season, where she revealed the two had actually met in the lobby of a hotel they were both staying at before filming. Although Peter sent her home without a rose, they reunited after the show ended and dated for about two years before calling it quits for good. Kelley shared her Lyme disease diagnosis with fans via Instagram, where she mentioned that two of her brothers also have it. She said that she’s always had to be careful about her health because her body is so sensitive, and receiving this diagnosis finally revealed what was going on. Now that she knows what the issue is, she can learn how to treat it.

Kelley took to social media to update fans about how her life is going post-diagnosis. She said changing her diet to avoid inflammation has been a big help, and thanked her fans for messaging her. She also stated that she’s looking into everything from food to detergents to make sure there aren’t any toxins in them. Living a clean, healthy life is something that she’s implementing moving forward. Hopefully, Kelley will continue to feel better as she learns how to live with Lyme disease.

Lyme disease isn’t slowing her down, though, as she just made an appearance at New York Fashion Week. She opened up about the new “intense” protocols she will be under to treat the disease. After NYFW, she’s flying to Boston for 9 months to see doctors there and learn how to “maneuver it.” “It’s going to be intense: No carbs, no sugar, an oxygen tank for, like, 30 minutes a day, brainwaves lasers. … It’s going to be extensive, but I’m ready to tackle it,” Kelley told Us Weekly. She also stated that NYFW will be her “last hoorah” before beginning treatment.

The former Bachelor star received a lot of support from her followers and even her ex, Peter, following her diagnosis. It’s a good thing Kelley has a big following because she’s willing to share her journey to help other people. “I don’t think there’s enough awareness around this, and that’s why I’m definitely going to talk about it more just to let people know what it is, what the symptoms are, how you feel — because it is manageable,” the attorney said. She also wants to help raise awareness because the tests are so expensive and not covered by insurance, so a lot of people might not even know they have it.

It’s great for fans of The Bachelor to see Kelley taking control of her life and figuring out what’s been going on with her body this entire time. Having someone with such a big platform will be a helpful way to get more people to be aware of Lyme disease and its symptoms. It’s also good to see that it’s completely possible to live a full and happy life with Lyme disease.
