Amid all of the controversies surrounding longtime host Chris Harrison, ABC has hired actor and comedian David Spade to be the replacement host for Bachelor In Paradise season 7. There was a lot of speculation leading up to this upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise, and this time, it wasn’t about the cast. After all, producers hired alumni Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams to host Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette… but there was no new info about who would host Bachelor in Paradise.
With each passing day, it becomes increasingly clear that the overall The Bachelor franchise is trying to move away from Chris Harrison as quickly as possible. Alas, a formal replacement host has yet to be picked by producers. For the After The Final Rose special from Matt James’ season of The Bachelor, producers chose Emmanuel Acho to host. For the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, it was announced that Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams would host. On the other hand, there wasn’t any news concerning Bachelor in Paradise season 7, and even less The Bachelor season 26.
Now, actor and comedian David Spade has been officially picked to host Bachelor In Paradise season 7, replacing Chris Harrison’s longtime duties. This update was originally reported by Page Six, and the fans are now trying to learn more about this Hollywood veteran. David Spade kickstarted his career when he was cast on Saturday Night Live in 1990. He left SNL in 1996, and went on to become a major movie star. David Spade’s most popular films include Tommy Boy, The Benchwarmers, Grown Ups, and Joe Dirt, to name a few. He has also been a celebrated star in voice acting, with performances that include playing Kuzco in The Emperor’s New Groove, Ranger Frank in The Rugrats Movie, and Griffin The Invisible Man in Hotel Transylvania.
In 2019, Comedy Central greenlit a brand-new late-night talk show called Lights Out With David Spade, which had over one hundred episodes. The show was canceled in 2020, and it was David Spade’s most recent project of major proportions. With his schedule now slightly more open, it makes sense that David can find time to film a season of Bachelor In Paradise. Considering his brand of sarcastic humor, it will also be a good fit for the series to bring that energy into a season that has been so shrouded by controversies regarding former host Chris Harrison.
David Spade can certainly “break the ice” on the show and poke fun at himself being the new host. All things considered, it is smart for Bachelor in Paradise to rely on some humor to get through this turbulent time while it tries to find a permanent new host.
