Bachelor: Dylan Barbour Upsets Bachelor Nation with April Fool’s Joke

Dylan Barbour and Hannah Godwin met on season six of Bachelor in Paradise and have been going strong ever since, but an April Fool’s joke gone bad had some questioning their status. The two have become a fan-favorite couple for the past few years and seemed more in love than ever. Fans got quite the shock after seeing Dylan’s Instagram post on April Fool’s Day.

This is not the first time fans have been surprised by Dylan on social media, as he controversially bashed ABC and Bachelor producers on Twitter during a Q&A back in February. They were shocked that he would openly speak out against the show that led him to find his future wife, Hannah. However, he did later take back some of the comments, though many fans were left confused by the entire situation.

Many members of Bachelor Nation have seen how Hannah and Dylan’s relationship has progressed after the rocky beginnings on Bachelor in Paradise. After Dylan proposed at the end of the season and the pair became engaged, fans hoped that this couple was in it for the long haul. However, they never know with Bachelor couples, as fans were incredibly shocked when they learned fellow fan-favorites Evan Bass and Carly Waddell split after three years of marriage. As is customary with couples in the spotlight, Dylan started the post using common phrases like “these things are never easy to write.”

He really worried fans when he continued by saying “Hannah and I have always appreciated the love and support…felt right to share what’s next for the both of us.” Fans naturally assumed this was a post announcing the end of his relationship with Hannah, and that the couple had decided to go their separate ways. Dylan also included a small paragraph talking about love and realizing “when it’s time to make a change,” saying that was the day. However, he was actually just pulling an April Fool’s Day prank. Dylan announced that he and Hannah had actually simply decided to stop eating gluten for the remainder of the year. He hilariously added that it would mean giving up “Costco blueberry muffins.” Several Bachelor alum responded to the post, including Matt Donald who said he knew immediately that it was going to be some April Fool’s joke.

Other members of the Bachelor family were fooled in the beginning, with fan-favorite Clay Harbor joking that it was a “bigger plot twist than the Sixth Sense.” A few people noted how upset they were by the post, saying “I hate you for this,” while another said, “I never knew how invested I was in your relationship haha.” Suffice it to say, fans are extremely relieved that Hannah and Dylan are still thriving together after spending months quarantining together and growing their relationship.
