Bachelor: Demi Burnett Says Producers Made 2 Contestants Wear Same Dress

Bachelor: Demi Burnett Says Producers Made 2 Contestants Wear Same Dress

On this week’s The Bachelor premiere, two contestants wore the same dress, which surprised viewers. Former Bachelor contestant Demi Burnett cleared up why Anna Milne and Alana Redman would have worn the same outfit.

Season 25 of The Bachelor premiered on Monday night. There were many contestants that caught viewers’ attention, like Queen Victoria Larson and Kit Keenan. But at the end of the night, viewers were puzzled by how the producers could have let two contestants, Anna and Alana, wear the exact same Revolve dress. The full-length red dress with a cross strap neckline is called the Revolve Nookie Viva 2Way Gown, and retails for $269. Both ladies received roses from Matt James, so the dress seems to be a hit. After the mishap was pointed out by several fans online, former Bachelor contestant Demi Burnett spoke out about why it happened.

Demi revealed to Us Weekly that Bachelor producers actually encourage contestants to wear the same dress. “The producers tell you which of the dresses they think you should wear,” she said, “So they probably wanted to stir something up.” Tensions on the first night of the show are always high, and lots of drama is promised to viewers. It seems like this is a common scheme by producers to cause a rift between the women. Demi spoke about how, on her season with Colton Underwood as the lead, Heather Martin and Laura Pellerito also wore the same dress on the first night. “Heather and the girl Laura looked at each other and they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re wearing the same dress, that’s awesome!'” Demi explained, “They’re like, ‘You look amazing in it.’ So it wasn’t a big deal and I feel like that’s what happened this time too.” Indeed, if there was any drama between Anna and Alana, it was not included in the episode.

Producers trying to stir up drama on reality shows is nothing new, and certainly not new on The Bachelor. Fans were outraged that Matt chose to give Victoria Larson a rose in the same episode. Victoria spent the episode insisting on being called The Queen, and appeared belligerently drunk from the moment she met Matt. She was also rude to several of the other women throughout the evening.

Producers frequently influence who gets roses at the beginning of the show to keep contestants who seem like they will cause drama. But while they influence who the Bachelor picks, they’re also working behind the scenes to stir up as much drama as they possibly can. Thankfully, their tactics didn’t seem to work this time around.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
