The Bachelor alum Demi Burnett shaded Colton Underwood in a recent interview. Demi fought for Colton’s love and attention during his season of The Bachelor, but he ended up cutting her along the way and falling in love with contestant Cassie Randolph. Colton and Cassie had an unhealthy relationship from beginning to end, with shocking details emerging toward the end of their relationship. In turn, Demi has stayed friends with Cassie and has shown her constant support through her rocky relationship with Colton. Since the show, Demi has come out as bisexual, and Colton has recently come out as gay on GMA.
Colton Underwood came under fire after Cassie Randolph filed a restraining order against him for stalking and harassment in September 2020. In case you forgot, he kind of did the same thing during his season of The Bachelor when Cassie attempted to call it quits and leave the show, which led him to jump over a fence and beg for the relationship to work. The charges were dropped in November 2020, but that didn’t stop fans from calling Colton out on his toxic behavior. Cassie was then informed that Colton came out as gay with the rest of the world in April 2020, which is when he did the GMA interview. During the interview, Colton said, “I’ve ran from myself for a long time. I’ve hated myself for a long time.” The former athlete continued, “And I’m gay. And I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it. And the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know.”
On Wednesday, Bachelor Nation shade queen Demi Burnett dissed her ex Colton Underwood during a Daily Pop interview where she discussed her appearance on ABC’s new show, The Celebrity Dating Game. When asked if she’d like to see other Bachelor Nation contestants on the show, she replied: “Well everyone is pretty much taken at this point.” Co-host Morgan Stewart then asked what kind of man Demi would want to see Colton with. The 26-year-old replied, “Someone that he won’t stalk.” Demi’s response was quite obviously referencing Cassie’s claims that Colton stalked and harassed her.
Demi Burnett’s response was in her true fashion, and it left the hosts of Daily Pop speechless. Morgan Stewart even forgot what the follow-up question was and had to ask a producer for a refresher. Well, fans on Reddit seem to agree with Demi’s response, as one user said: “The one time I like Demi’s snark… FOR REAL,” while another said, “Where’s the lie?” Reddit fans also compared Colton and Cassie’s platonic relationship to their own: “I think the utter desperation to make it work with Cassie has a lot to do with Colton being desperate to live his idea of a ‘normal’ life, a life as a married straight man.” The Redditor added, “It’s sad in a way, but also very wrong and clearly terrifying and traumatizing for Cass. I wish Colton would just leave the public eye and get a metric shit ton of therapy.”
Whether or not people want to say that Demi was out of line for this statement, it was really an “I was thinking it but you said it” moment, and that was clear from the way that the Daily Pop co-hosts reacted to it. Demi didn’t say anything that wasn’t already discussed by The Bachelor fans in regards to Colton’s treatment toward Cassie – Demi was just stating a fact. The world needs more people like Demi that aren’t afraid to always tell the truth.
