From memes to fan art, Baby Yoda has taken the world by storm in a number of ways, and now he’s even become a cream puff recipe. The adorable little creature made his grand debut in the final moments of The Mandalorian’s first episode, which premiered on Disney Plus’ launch day, November 12. From the moment he appeared on screen, he quickly captured the hearts of viewers all over the world. Although he was originally called “The Child” in the series, Mandalorian fans renamed him Baby Yoda instead, and the name has stuck ever since.

The popularity of the character was something that even took Disney by surprise. Unfortunately, since the little creature was kept a secret up until the show’s premiere, the Mouse House was late to the game when it came to creating and distributing merchandise for Baby Yoda. This amounted to roughly a $2.7 million loss for the Mouse House but didn’t stop them from playing catch up later on. Thankfully, Baby Yoda merch has been making the rounds now in short bursts, but his true legacy has thrived in the online world as a source for memes and excellent artwork from fans. Now, Baby Yoda is even making his way into the culinary world.

A recipe by Jenn Fujikawa of JustJENN Recipes reimagines Baby Yoda as a cream puff, and it’s an absolutely adorable take on the Star Wars character. She explained that “something about his floating pod” spoke to her, and the first thing that came to mind was cream puffs. She explained that the “little carriage cream puffs” house her “pastry cream babies.” For creating Baby Yoda, she used “matcha flavored cream […] and cocoa cream for his trademark oversized scarf.” She went on to add that she “made these as simple to make” as she could and that she wants “everyone, everywhere, to experience making Baby Yoda Cream Puffs for themselves,” adding in that it’s “something we all need in our lives.”

The wide variety of ideas that have spawned from Baby Yoda have been seemingly endless. He’s become one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe, and fans are eager to see what else happens with him in season 2 of The Mandalorian. Even though that’s still months away, with a release date confirmed for Fall of 2020, Baby Yoda-related projects like this one are sure to keep up the excitement for the series as it heads into its upcoming season.

Not only is this recipe an adorable new addition to the ever-expanding amount of Baby Yoda-related content, but it’s also a fun way to transform baking into a great family-friendly bonding activity. It’s clear that both children and adults enjoy this adorable character, so making these Baby Yoda cream puffs is an exciting, and easy, new way to add a little more flavor and fun when it comes to making things in the kitchen. On top of that, it’s a fun premiere night treat to make once season 2 of The Mandalorian hits Disney’s streaming platform later this year.
