Avengers: Endgame Killed Off All Of The MCU’s Best Avengers 5 Leaders

Avengers: Endgame Killed Off All Of The MCU’s Best Avengers 5 Leaders

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘s best Avengers leader was killed in Avengers: Endgame. Years removed from the Infinity Saga and in the trenches of setting up its next culmination, the 2019 Joe and Anthony Russo blockbuster still impacts the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s storytelling. While it was a great way to end the first three phases of the franchise, there are certain lingering questions that it left. More importantly, its events significantly shape what the future of the MCU looks like.

Marvel Studios carry the burden of doing something different in the Multiverse Saga. Despite the success of its predecessor, it cannot simply repeat what it did in its first three Phases, otherwise, it will open up the franchise to comparisons or worse, criticisms. One of the biggest differences coming into this new era for the MCU centers around the handling of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Instead of book-ending every Phase with their film, the Avengers movies are now reserved as saga-cappers. While it’s still a few years before they re-assemble in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, there are already conversations about who will be the next leader of the MCU’s premiere team.

There is still no official Avengers team in the Multiverse Saga, as the group hasn’t re-assembled yet since the Battle of Earth. Despite that, there are several fan favorites about who may spearhead the initiative as the MCU gears up for the upcoming battle against Kang the Conqueror. Some of the frontrunners include Doctor Strange and Sam Wilson’s Captain America. Since Loki is now the most important player in the franchise given his knowledge of the multiverse, there are also arguments that he can front this new iteration of the Avengers.

While it’s definitely interesting to see any of these candidates lead the Avengers, the team’s best leaders are still Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow. Unfortunately, all of them are either dead or retired in the MCU after Avengers: Endgame, making it impossible to return as active players in the franchise in time for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Despite rumors of Marvel Studios bringing back some of its founding characters, reports suggest that it won’t happen until Avengers: Secret Wars, if this idea even pushes through.

Why Avengers 5’s Villain Makes The Team’s New Adjustments Even More Complicated

Black Widow on Vormir in Endgame

Bringing in characters who are well-established and well-beloved is vital in not only ensuring the success of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty but also keeping people’s interest in the film. This is particularly important in light of the disappointing debut of Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. If anything, the MCU needs its best characters now more than ever as it faces a massive sustainability test in the Multiverse Saga. So while the second generation of the universe post-Avengers: Endgame is powerful and popular, they still don’t have the same level of endearment that Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow have had.
