Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is Ubisoft subsidiary Massive Entertainment’s upcoming open-world game set in James Cameron’s hugely successful Avatar franchise. Cameron’s confirmed that the game’s story is canonical, and similarly to the movies, Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora will focus on the conflict between the alien Na’vi tribe, and the Resource Development Administration (RDA), as the latter tries to plunder the planet Pandora for resources.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora‘s protagonist is described as being a child of two worlds, born Na’vi but raised and trained by the RDA after being abducted as a child by one of the RDA’s leaders, John Mercer. This brutal yet unique upbringing has provided her experience with the RDA’s futuristic military tech, but upon reintegrating with the Na’vi after 15 years in RDA captivity, she begins to become accustomed to using the tribes’ traditional weaponry as well. This upbringing makes her quite a formidable adversary to the RDA as she’s able to use their tactics against them.

There Are 2 Additional Chapters And A Bonus Quest

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora‘s story is set to continue after the game’s initial launch, with Ubisoft confirming two story DLC packs: The Sky Breaker, and Secrets of the Spires. Both of these story packs will be included in the game’s Season Pass, which will be included in some of the game’s special editions or will be available to purchase separately post-launch.

The Sky Breaker shows the unity of many Na’vi clans as they celebrate at their great festival of games before a “mysterious shadow” – likely some kind of RDA threat – appears in the sky. Secrets of the Spires will take place later and seems to focus primarily on aerial combat as players uncover the secrets of a new canyon region and work to restore peace to the land.

The Season Pass will include a further bonus quest, “Familiar Echoes“, in which players are tasked with infiltrating a highly secured RDA military base and hacking their classified data to sabotage them from the inside. The pass also contains a Resistance cosmetic bundle, which consists of one banshee cosmetic set, one character gear set, and one unique weapon.

The Gold And Ultimate Editions Grant Access To The Story DLC

As with many Ubisoft titles, there are several editions of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora available, each with differing content. These consist of the Standard, Special, Limited, Gold, Ultimate, and the Collector’s Edition. Pre-ordering any edition of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will also unlock the “Child of Two Worlds” pack, which includes a character cosmetic set and a weapon skin.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora‘s Standard Edition will come with just the base game, the Special Edition includes the “Sarentu Heritage” cosmetic pack, and the Amazon-exclusive Limited Edition will include the “Sarentu Hunter” equipment pack. Both the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game include the aforementioned Season Pass content, with the physical Gold Edition also including a Steelbook case from select retailers.

The Ultimate Edition is the only version of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to not have a physical release, only being available on digital storefronts. This set includes all of the digital content seen in the Limited and Gold Editions, as well as a digital artbook and a further “Ultimate Pack” consisting of both the Special and Limited Edition’s Sarentu cosmetics combined:

Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora’s Collector’s Edition Has Physical Bonuses

Prepare For Almost 14 Inches Of Na’vi

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s Collector’s Edition includes a Premium Steelbook with a physical copy of the game alongside all of the aforementioned digital content seen in the Ultimate Edition. It also comes with several additional physical bonuses, including 3 lithographs showcasing three of Pandora’s impressive and distinct landscapes, a Resistance field notebook, an A2-sized AMP suit blueprint, a 120-page artbook, and a Na’vi statue, alongside a premium certificate of authenticity.

This edition is intended for the most hardcore of Avatar fans, retailing at $229.99. According to the official Ubisoft website, this will only be available in some regions through select retailers. The confirmed retailers for the US, UK, and Australia are GameStop, Game, and EB Games, respectively. In other countries, Ubisoft advises checking availability with local retailers.

PS5 Owners Won’t Have To Pay For A Cosmetic Pack

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a current-gen exclusive and will be released on December 7, 2023 on Amazon’s cloud-based gaming platform, Amazon Luna, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. While all the aforementioned editions will be available on each of these platforms, the official Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora X account revealed that PlayStation 5 players will also receive access to the Aranahe Warrior Pack for free at launch.

The bundle includes cosmetics inspired by the Aranahe, who are a group of peaceful weavers who live in the Kinglor Forest. This content will be available for all PS5 owners in the game’s inventory after they log into Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora for the first time. After a timed exclusive window on PS5, those on Xbox and PC will be able to access the content but will have to purchase it for an additional fee instead.
