Argylle Box Office Still Nowhere Near Making Back Its Budget After One Full Month In Theaters

Argylle Box Office Still Nowhere Near Making Back Its Budget After One Full Month In Theaters

The Argylle box office is still struggling after a month in theaters. The spy comedy stars Henry Cavill as the titular, and fictional, Agent Argylle, a character invented by author Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), who gets embroiled in a globetrotting adventure of her own. The movie has a reported budget of $200 million, which means that its break-even point is likely $400 million or more. Unfortunately for the movie, although it opened at No. 1, its inauspicious $17.4 million debut was a prelude to a disappointing box office run that has so far earned $88.5 million worldwide.

By the end of its fifth weekend in theaters, which marks one full month since the movie’s domestic premiere, the Argylle box office is projected to have earned an additional $1.3 million. This will bring its cumulative total to $43.8 million, less than a quarter of its production budget. While international box office numbers haven’t been fully reported for the weekend, unless they miraculously bring in more than $10 million, the movie’s worldwide total will still be considerably below $100 million, which is just half of its budget.
