Arcane Season 2: Cast, Story, Trailer & Everything We Know

<

After its showstopping first season, it’s no surprise that Arcane will return for season 2, and details on the voice cast and other updates continue to be revealed leading up to its release. Set in the League of Legends universe, Arcane focuses on sisters Violet and Powder (later Jinx) as they end up on opposite sides of a growing conflict between the wealthy utopia of Piltover and its dark undercity whose citizens wish to break away from their oppressors. Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, and Kevin Alejandro star in this animated adventure.

The Emmy-winning show registered massive viewing numbers on Netflix and received a lavish critical reception, with a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Due to the laborious nature of the animation, which beautifully combines 2D & 3D styles, the show takes a long time to make. While details remain scarce, new information about Arcane season 2 is steadily being released. However, the dramatic cliffhanger ending to season 1’s final episode will likely deliver a vastly different status quo in Arcane season 2

Arcane Season 2 Is Confirmed

Jinx in Arcane

Arcane’s continuation into season 2 was confirmed via the League of Legends YouTube channel on November 21, 2021, just three weeks after season 1’s release date. This was no surprise given its massive popularity, with the show reaching Netflix’s top 10 in 52 countries. However, the timing of this announcement also explains the wait for Arcane season 2. Since the first season took so long to come to the air, it only makes sense that the second would also be an arduous journey.

Though a more firm date has not been established yet, Arcane season 2 is slated to release in November 2024. This lengthy production timeline isn’t particularly surprising, especially considering the fact that season 1 took six years to develop. As 2024 progresses, a more firm date will likely be established for the upcoming episodes.

Feature Image Arcane Cast and Character Guide

The Arcane season 2 story has been kept closely under wraps, but the implications of season 1’s finale can provide strong indications of what’s to come. The first season culminates in the death of Jinx’s father figure Silco, causing an anguished Jinx to launch a hextech missile at the Piltover council. This will surely drive the sisters further apart and will decimate the uncertain peace between Zaun and Piltover. With power vacuums now present on both sides, new characters may emerge in hopes of filling the leadership roles.

The first trailer for Arcane season 2 arrived in January 2024, and though it was brief, it offered a clue about the upcoming season. The 40-second clip shows Singed pumping his blood through the body of a mysterious figure suspended above him. Keen-eyed League of Legends fans have identified the figure as Warwick, a werewolf-like monster. It’s unclear exactly how Singed’s plans will factor into Arcane season 2, but things are already promising to be even more explosive than the first.
