Chris Pratt’s ex-wife, actor Anna Faris, is trending on Twitter after Pratt thanked his new wife for giving him a “healthy daughter.” The Guardians of the Galaxy star, who is now married to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger, was previously married to Faris for nine years before their divorce in 2018. Faris and Pratt had one son together, Jack, who has suffered from various health issues since birth, having undergone hernia surgeries, eye surgeries, and experienced an ongoing heart problem.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger married in 2019 and have since had one daughter together, Lyla Maria. In an early celebration of his wife’s birthday, Pratt posted and image on Instagram praising Schwarzenegger and, among other things, thanking her for giving him a “healthy daughter.” The post, which has since garnered a lot of attention online, calls Katherine his “greatest treasure” and reveals that she “helps [him] with everything.” In the post, Pratt also writes: “Her heart is pure and it belongs to me.”
Although many have previously criticized the post in general for being “cringe-worthy,” a new aspect of the post is now under scrutiny. Many Twitter users have responded to posts by Pop Crave and Buzzfeed on Twitter, voicing their support for Faris in light of Pratt’s post. Users have taken issue with Pratt’s apparent insult to his ex-wife with his specific mention that Schwarzenegger gave him a “healthy” daughter. The backlash has resulted in many fans coming to Faris’ defence and criticizing Pratt’s particular phrasing in the post. Check out some of the Tweets supporting Faris below.
Among the long list of posts, one fan says she will “never forgive [Pratt]” while another simply says, “I hope Anna Faris and Jack are having a great day.” The recent post is also not the only time Pratt has found himself in hot water on social media. In 2019, actor Elliot Page called out Pratt’s church for its supposed historical “anti-LGBTQ” stance, which Pratt staunchly denied. While many have come to Faris’ defense, others have taken Pratt’s side, with one particularly vehement Twitter user calling those who support her “miserable trash.“
While it seems unlikely that Pratt would intentionally insult his ex-wife and son in such a public fashion, his wording certainly allows for a negative reading of the post. Considering the health issues his child with Faris has suffered since birth, the remark in Pratt’s post could be seen as rather tone-deaf. Considering the backlash, it seems likely that Pratt will clarify his remarks in the near future and perhaps even apologize. Ultimately, his status as a Hollywood celebrity means that all of Pratt’s remarks, on social media or otherwise, will be closely scrutinized. Regardless of the intent behind Pratt’s wording, Anna Faris and her son Jack have received an outpouring of love from fans around the world, which is a very positive thing to see.
