When it comes to decorating a house, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has no shortage of options. Besides the collection of furniture, flooring, and rugs available to players, the game offers a vibrant selection of wallpapers. These can be used in each room of a players house, allowing for a space-themed bedroom or a magma cavern kitchen. However, some players may find themselves saddled with a few of the less attractive wallpaper options in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Obtaining wallpaper styles ranges in difficulty. Animal Crossing wallpapers can be found in trees when shaken, crafted by the player, or bought from shopkeepers. A large number of wallpapers in New Horizons can be purchased from Nook’s Cranny, which is likely the easiest way to amass options. However, some can only be purchased through the traveling salesperson, Saharah. Because Saharah doesn’t always appear on a players island, buying these wallpapers in Animal Crossing is a waiting game. Players also can’t guarantee what options Saharah will have, so it can take time to collect them all, and duplicates are common. A few wallpapers are exclusive to Animal Crossing: New Horizons seasonal events, meaning that if players don’t snag or craft them during the event’s timeline, they will have to wait until the following year to craft or buy them in their game.
While most of the options that Animal Crossing offers for wallpaper are cute and interesting, there are a few that are truly unfortunate to look at. These wallpapers have painful color choices or are just so odd for a room’s background that players may want to know what they will sell for, rather than hanging onto them. Making a little money on them may be better than having a tacky background sitting in storage indefinitely.

The most profitable of these strange choices is the Steel Frame wallpaper. Because it is a DIY recipe and not something a player must pay out of pocket for, the only thing they are out after selling the wallpaper is the materials. The recipe can be be obtained by talking to Animal Crossing’s ‘smug’ villagers, and the wallpaper only requires 8 iron ore to craft. At 6,000 Bells a pop, while it may not be the most inviting living room look, the resale value isn’t too shabby.
Whether or not a wallpaper is perfect for a room is up to the player at the end of the day, but there are definitely a few that just don’t seem like they fit with some of the more delicate and beautiful backdrops available, like Animal Crossing’s Snowflake wallpaper for the winter event this year.
