Animal Crossing New Horizons Island Features A Full Port For Kapp’n

An Animal Crossing New Horizons fan built a port near a dock to ensure Kapp’n never feels lonely. A turtle drawn to life on the water, Kapp’n has remained a staple in the Animal Crossing franchise since the original 2001 entry. The character didn’t join the ACNH roster until Update 2.0, however, which went live on Nintendo Switch late last year.

This beloved NPC’s introduction to the New Horizons island came alongside that of a few other fan-favorite characters, namely Harriet, Tortimer, and Brewster, the latter of whom also brought The Roost café along for the ride. Like many villagers, Kapp’n plays a somewhat of a key role in the day-to-day operations of the island. Most notably, the character’s position as a sailor allows him to ferry players to mystery islands via Kapp’n’s Boat Tours, which features an asking price of 1,000 Nook Miles per trip. And should Kapp’n ever get lonely while waiting for the ACNH Boat Tours business to pick up, one player found a way to guarantee the turtle always has company nearby.

Today, January 12, Reddit user penguin_army shared footage of their latest Animal Crossing New Horizons creation. Instead of building something for themselves, the player took the time to craft a port for Kapp’n near the docks. It’s quite the wide span of space, too, coming complete with a fountain, marketplace, and beach area to the far left with a stage. Penguin_army said the build constituted an effort to make sure Kapp’n never feels lonely, and it seems as though they accomplished as much and more in spades. See the clip in the link below:

It appears the ACNH fan spared no expense while building the small port town for Kapp’n. The player even managed to decorate the area with castle walls and a boat washed up on the beach, neat touches that go a long way in truly selling the port-like feel.

Apart from smaller patches and fixes, Nintendo has effectively ended its support for Animal Crossing New Horizons. Happy Home Paradise counts as the first and only paid DLC; meanwhile, Update 2.0 marks the final major update of consequence. Naturally, fans hope this means a sequel is in the works, though Nintendo has yet to so much as tease such a project. The game’s incredible commercial success indicates a proper follow-up will indeed see the light of day, however.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is available to purchase digitally and at retail for the Nintendo Switch.
