Andor Season 2 “Likely To Be Moved To 2025,” In Disappointing News For Star Wars Fans

Andor season 2, the continuation of the critically acclaimed Star Wars TV show, has reportedly been pushed back for a 2025 release. A recent Disney press release confirmed two new live-action Star Wars TV shows would release in 2024, but one surprising omission was swiftly noted; there was no mention of Andor season 2, eagerly anticipated after the critical success of season 1. This was understandably regarded with some concern, but a section on “Returning Series” did note there were others not shown on the list. In truth, the fanbase wasn’t sure what to make of this news.

According to Gizmodo, however, Andor season 2 is probably going to be pushed back to 2025. They report sources close to the production who have advised that delays due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes, “as well as the time needed to release the other two shows,” means the show is likely going to come out later than expected. This is surprising news, given Andor only had two weeks’ filming left before it was forced to pause due to the strikes. Screen Rant has reached out to Disney for comment.

Andor season 1 ended with an explosive finale, leading many to wonder what season 2 has in store. Here is everything we know about Andor season 2.

Why Has Andor Season 2 Been Delayed?

Lucasfilm announced an August 2024 release for Andor season 2 back at Star Wars Celebration, but that predated the strikes. While Andor hasn’t been directly impacted to the same extent as some TV shows, it’s quite possible the release schedules have been switched up dramatically because Disney has less content to work with in the short-to-medium term after months without writers or actors. That, sadly, would potentially explain why Andor could be delayed.

Looking beyond this, there may also be factors in play that are specific to Lucasfilm. Curiously, the future of further Star Wars TV shows set outside The Mandalorian era is currently a mystery. The writers’ strike may have meant Lucasfilm couldn’t work on other ideas, with Andor has been pushed back to give the studio more time. That would be disappointing, but understandable. Hopefully it won’t be long before Disney confirm Andor‘s fate.
