And Just Like That Season 2 Trailer Reveals Aidan’s Romantic Return

And Just Like That season 2 finally has an official trailer, revealing the return of John Corbett’s Aidan. The series, which premiered on HBO Max in December 2021, is the latest entry in the Sex and the City franchise, following the personal and romantic lives of the core characters of the series (minus Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones) after the death of Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) husband Mr. Big (Chris Noth). It has previously been announced that this season will feature the return of Aidan Shaw, one of Carrie’s most prominent former flames from the original series.

Today, HBO Max shared the official trailer for And Just Like That season 2.

The trailer teases plenty of upheaval in the lives of Carrie and her friends Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), as well as promising that the series will premiere sometime this June. While the bulk of the trailer makes it seem like Carrie may finally have her love life back on track, Aidan returns at the very end to reliably shake things up.

Aidan’s Character in Sex and the City Explained

And Just Like That Season 2 Trailer Reveals Aidan’s Romantic Return

Aidan Shaw is one of the most important love interests of Carrie Bradshaw’s time in New York City. Although he was ultimately no match for Mr. Big, who she married in the 2008 movie Sex and the City, he was a major facet of the romantic drama that got them to that point. After joining the Sex and the City cast in season 3, he appeared in 22 total episodes of the series and was a major romantic contender for quite some time.

Carrie and Aidan first met when she saw him in a furniture ad and pursued him. Although he was initially part of a comic storyline about Carrie hiding the fact that she’s a smoker, their love eventually blossomed into something deep and serious. However, Carrie slept with Mr. Big while in a relationship with Aidan, an issue that caused them to break up not once but twice, with its continued repercussions ruining their engagement in season 4.

Before the events of And Just Like That, the last time Aidan was seen was 2010’s Sex and the City 2. That film featured a role reversal when Carrie kissed him after running into him by chance in Abu Dhabi and has to confess her infidelity to Mr. Big. When he finally reenters her life, all of this baggage will come along with him, meaning plenty of romantic drama to come in the new season of the sequel series.
