Due to the popularity of streaming services, numerous shows have experienced revivals and reboots. Sex and the City is set to be included in this list, as the announcement of a reboot has stirred interest among fans to see what Carrie and her friends will be up to now.
The downside to this is that there are plenty of things to worry about, as there’s a chance that established points about the series might be altered. Considering the revival is titled And Just Like That, a whole new name might entail different turns in storytelling fans aren’t prepared to experience.

It’s been over a decade since the characters were seen, with Sex and the City 2 having arrived in 2010. The first movie had followed only four years after the show had ended, meaning Carrie and her friends had appeared frequently for over a decade since the show’s premiere.
With such a long time between their last story, the characters will most definitely have faced a lot of changes in their lives. This will bring in a fresh prospect for the story, as their personal maturities and events that influenced them will be felt.
Worried: The Prospect Of A Show Without Mr. Big
The dynamic between Mr. Big and Carrie served as the basis of the romantic aspect of the series. Sex and the City 2 showed the couple finally at a place in their lives where they became a firm married couple that overcame all the drama between them.
However, it appears as if Big might not be around to appear in the reboot. The original plan for the canceled Sex and the City 3 was to kill him off. The revival hasn’t made things encouraging with no word on the character’s return. Should he be killed off, fans won’t be pleased to see their favorite romantic interest be left out.

The characters have shown varying degrees of intelligence when it comes to the matter of love. Their constant mishappenings have led to a number of hilarious instances that have been funny due to how awkward things tend to get.
The series has its own trademark style that brings a certain charm in this regard, something that fans will be all too pleased to see return. Each characters’ quirkiness has been their greatest asset in making these funny, so it’s exciting to wait for a new round where this is concerned.

Although a lot of things were done right with the character, one of the mistakes that Sex and the City made repeatedly was to make Carrie a conceited person right when she was on the cusp of showing genuine character development.
Sex and the City 2 showed her finally putting her self-centered practices away, so it’ll be a shame if the revival turns her back into the self-absorbed person she’d been at times. Since fans have held on to her renewed personality for years, they’ll be nervous to see how she’s turned out to be.

It’s difficult to imagine that no former love interest will return for the revival, considering just how many times these men had popped back into the girls’ lives back in the day. Aidan and Carrie had come across each other as recently as Sex and the City 2, meaning this practice of recurring love interests is something fans enjoy seeing.
Just like the main characters, the love interest will also have progressed in their lives considerably, even more so since they’ve been absent longer than the girls onscreen. It’ll be interesting to see if they have moved on or are willing to try a final time to get back together somehow.
Worried: It Might Feel Aged
Should the characters be the same way they were back then and make the same choices as before, there’s no doubt the series will feel aged. After all, the TV landscape has evolved in different ways, which means character traits that were common years ago won’t land with current audiences.
The girls are also older by this point and fans will be expecting them to act more mature. If they behave like women in their twenties and thirties, it won’t be nearly as charming as it once was.
Excited: The Series Has Enough Time To Tell Its Story
An issue with the two movies that were released was that it felt like the plot of a series had been condensed into an hour and a half. This meant a lot of things were rushed and didn’t justify the events that took place within this time.
With the revival having about 10 episodes to play out, there’s enough time for the main story to play out without sacrificing any plotlines. After almost two decades without episodic arcs to follow, fans will be excited to see subtle storytelling once again.
Worried: The Established Relationships Might Be Ruined
Sex and the City: The Movie had interfered with the relationships of Big and Carrie, and Steve and Charlotte. This messed with the ending of the TV series, something that didn’t feel right since established relationships were broken for the sake of an additional plot.
Fans won’t be happy to see relationships like Harry and Charlotte be put in the line, which seems likely since the other girls had their romances shattered at some point. The revival can very well change the relationship statuses of the characters and it’s certain to worry longtime fans.

Sex and the City 2 always felt like a relatively needless sequel, with the ending even rather ridiculous as it signed off with a gag rather than on a heartwarming note. With the characters in the second half of their lives, it’s high time they have a definitive conclusion.
Since the revival is supposed to be a limited series, it’s placed well to wrap everything up and send fans off feeling satisfied. More importantly, the characters themselves can rest well with their individual endings.
Worried: Samantha’s Exclusion Shatters The Show’s Dynamic
Anybody who claims that Samantha isn’t important is giving an unpopular opinion, as Samantha can very well be considered as Sex and the City’s breakout character. She was the one who did the heavy lifting where the extreme details in intimacy were to be portrayed, along with the comedic factor.
Now that Samantha is confirmed not to be returning, the dynamic between the characters has already been shattered. Her absence is most definitely going to be the thing that will worry fans most, as the presentation of the episodes will need a big revamp from the established style of the show.
