American Horror Stories Season 2 Trailer Confirms New & Returning Cast

The official trailer for American Horror Stories season 2 has been released, revealing both new nightmares and talent for the upcoming episodes. The FX on Hulu show debuted in 2021 with its 7-episode season 1, which featured terrors ranging from demons and rituals to local myths and legends. American Horror Stories season 2 will continue its anthology format of thrilling standalone stories; there will be nine episodes in total, with the first set to release on July 21.

American Horror Stories is a spinoff of American Horror Story, which has so far aired 10 seasons and will return for at least 3 more. Much like its predecessor, American Horror Stories season 1 explored a slew of terrifying tales, albeit on a smaller scale due to its episodic nature. For example, one episode featured a gory movie theater massacre while another dealt with a sinister deal with the devil. American Horror Stories season 1 also had some connections to the original series, namely by bringing back AHS‘ infamous Murder House. With season 2 now rapidly approaching, it remains to be seen whether these two worlds will merge once again.

Released by FX, the American Horror Stories season 2 trailer reveals there will be episodes with a dollhouse theme, a creature emerging from a bathtub, and a home intruder in a bunny mask. Plus, there are mentions of ghosts and serial killers. The trailer also shows returning talent from both American Horror Story and American Horror Stories, including Max Greenfield, Denis O’Hare, Gabourey Sidibe, Nico Greetham, and Cody Fern. Newcomers to the show include Bella Thorne, Alicia Silverstone, Dominique Jackson, Judith Light, and Quvenzhané Wallis. Watch the full trailer:

The new episodes will air weekly like the first season, with the last episode releasing on September 15. As American Horror Story season 11 has yet to announce its premiere date, the spinoff show can help fill a void for fans who are looking for some small-screen scares. From the trailer alone, it looks like American Horror Stories season 2 will be a thrilling mix of the supernatural and the realistic; for example, while Thorne’s character seems poised to battle a serial killer, Silverstone has her hands full with a terrifying creature in her tub. There just might be something for everyone in this new batch of American Horror Stories.

With a variety of scary arcs involving evil, death, and love, American Horror Stories season 2 will hopefully give fans more horrifying content to keep them up at night. The return of fan favorite cast members and exciting new talent puts the new season on a strong start, with reliable performers like O’Hare leading the cast. Although there doesn’t seem to be any direct American Horror Story connections in the new season so far, the creators tend to drop Easter eggs, so it will be interesting to see what connections can be made.

American Horror Stories season 2 premieres Thursday, July 21 on Hulu.
