AMD’s Ryzen 7000 Desktop Processor Launch Date Just Leaked

AMD’s Ryzen 7000 Desktop Processor Launch Date Just Leaked

A new leak has seemingly confirmed the exact launch date for AMD‘s Ryzen 7000 desktop processors. The chipmaker had earlier confirmed that its next-gen desktop chips would launch this fall, but hadn’t yet officially confirmed the exact dates. At its Q1, 2022 earnings call in early May, AMD confirmed plans to launch a slew of Zen 4 ‘Ryzen 7000’ products, including ‘Raphael’ for desktops, ‘Dragon Range’ for enthusiast gaming laptops, and ‘Phoenix’ for thin and light gaming notebooks. The Raphael desktops chips will be targeted at enthusiasts and serious gamers looking for top performance from their computers.

AMD has been teasing its next-gen desktop processors over the past few months and has already made some interesting claims about them in the lead-up to the launch. At Computex 2022 in May, AMD showcased its Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 Series desktop processors, built with 5nm process technology for the new Socket AM5 platform. The company also claimed that these chips will offer a 15 percent increase in performance over Zen 3. The new chips will also support DDR5 memory, so some of the performance gain might be due to the transition to the newer and faster standard.

According to a new Wccftech report, AMD will unveil its Ryzen 7000-series desktop CPUs on Aug. 29 before making them available for purchase from Sept. 15. It is, however, unclear whether the event will be just for the media, or if it will be meant for mass consumption and live-streamed for viewers around the world. However, given that it is an official product announcement, it is likely to be the latter.

Multiple Ryzen 7000 CPUs Expected To Be Launched

AMD’s Ryzen 7000 Desktop Processor Launch Date Just Leaked

According to a prior leak by AMD, the company will announce at least 4 different Ryzen 7000 CPUs at launch. That includes the 8-core 12-thread Ryzen 9 7950X, the 12-core 24-thread Ryzen 9 7900X, the 8-core 16-thread Ryzen 7 7700X, and the 6-core 12-thread Ryzen 5 7600X. Alongside the processors, the event will also see many of AMD’s partner motherboard manufacturers showing off their X670 and X670 Extreme motherboards.

Again, it is not immediately clear which companies have been invited to display their wares at the event, but leading board manufacturers like Asus, Biostar, Gigabyte, and MSI have spoken at previous AMD events, suggesting that at least some of them might be present at the upcoming event as well. At Computex 2022, AMD listed the names of some of the upcoming flagship AM5 motherboards, including the Asrock X670E Taichi, Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme, Biostar X670E Valkyrie, Gigabyte X670E AORUS Xtreme, and MSI MEG X670 ACE. It can, therefore, be expected that at least some of the aforementioned boards will be detailed at AMD‘s upcoming event later this month.
