AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs Will Launch The Same Day As Intel’s Raptor Lake

AMD has reportedly postponed the launch of its Ryzen 7000 CPUs, and they will now be available for purchase on the same day that Intel is scheduled to announce its Raptor Lake processors. The news comes several days after a report suggested that AMD will unveil its Ryzen 7000-series desktop CPUs on Aug. 29 before making them available for purchase from Sept. 15. According to reports, AMD is expected to announce multiple Ryzen 7000 chips with high core counts and impressive clock speeds.

At its Q1, 2022 earnings call in early May, AMD confirmed plans to launch a slew of Zen 4 ‘Ryzen 7000’ products, including ‘Raphael’ for desktops, ‘Dragon Range’ for enthusiast gaming laptops, and ‘Phoenix’ for thin and light gaming notebooks. Since then, the company has been teasing its next-gen desktop processors, most notably, at Computex 2022 in May. According to AMD, the new chips will not only offer a 15 percent increase in performance over Zen 3, but the flagship chip in the lineup will also apparently offer 31 percent faster rendering performance than Intel’s Core i9-12900K.

According to unnamed sources cited by WCCFTech, AMD’s next-gen mainstream desktop processors will be launched on Sept. 27 – the same day that Intel is supposed to unveil its 13-gen Core ‘Raptor Lake’ processors. The company was originally expected to launch the new chips on Sept. 15, so the two-week delay is a tad unexpected. However, AMD’s plan to announce the Ryzen 7000 processors later this month remains unchanged, meaning they will still debut on Aug. 29 as expected.

In terms of what to expect from the first batch of Ryzen 7000 chips, reports suggest that AMD might launch two Ryzen 9 chips (7950X and 7900X) alongside the Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 7600X on day 1, while the Ryzen 7 7800X may come later. In terms of performance, the Ryzen 9 7950X is expected to be the most powerful CPU in the lineup with 16 cores and 32 threads. It is expected to have a boost clock of up to 5.7GHz and a 170W TDP.

Apart from the Ryzen 7000 lineup, AMD is also expected to soon announce its Ryzen 5000 PRO-series desktop processors, including the Ryzen 9 PRO 5945, the Ryzen 7 PRO 5845 and the Ryzen 5 PRO 5645. The chips, which are expected to power workstations and high-end desktops, were recently revealed by a listing on the official Lenovo website. What’s more, AMD last week also started selling the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000-series processors to retail buyers at eye-popping prices, going up to an insane $6,499 for the 64-core Threadripper PRO 5995WX.
