Amazon Just Revealed Exactly How Reacher Season 2 Will End

Warning: Major spoilers for Reacher season 2 below!

The latest episode of Amazon’s Reacher just straight-up spoiled how season 2 will end. Reacher season 2 adapts Bad Luck and Trouble, the 11th book in Lee Child’s series about the titular wandering avenger. The second series has Reacher reuniting with his old army unit to investigate who killed one of their own, and why. In classic Lee Child fashion, what starts as a murder mystery soon blossoms into a much bigger case. What made Bad Luck and Trouble stand out from other books is that Reacher has a whole team working with him this time.

Reacher season 1 covered Killing Floor, which was the character’s novel debut. Amazon’s adaptation was broadly faithful, though it made some key changes. Characters like Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin) or Roscoe (Willa Fitzgerald) were fleshed out even more, as were the villains; the show added more action and goons for Reacher to beat up/shoot too. Reacher season 2 is taking a similar approach, giving a bigger spotlight to main villains AM (Ferdinand Kingsley) and Langston (Robert Patrick).

Reacher Promises To Throw Langston Out Of A Helicopter

Reacher always keeps his promises

Langston was called Lamaison in Bad Luck and Trouble, who was a largely unseen threat for the first part of the book. Langston is the head of security of defense contractor New Age and is in league with AM. Just like the novel, Langston’s primary method of murder is dropping people from a helicopter, which is how Reacher season 2 opens. Langston killed Special Investigator members Franz, Sanchez and Orozco using this MO, so when Reacher talks to Langston at the end of episode 4, he vows to throw him out of a helicopter too.

Now this threat has been made, there’s no way Reacher season 2 won’t finish with Langston being tossed from a chopper. Reacher isn’t one to make idle threats either; if he says he’s going to do something, that’s exactly what he’s going to do. The new season might take detours from the source material, but Bad Luck and Trouble also ended with the Langston character being thrown off a helicopter by Reacher. At this point, it would be hugely disappointing if season 2 didn’t close on this note, as it’s the fate Langston deserves.

Reacher Season 2 Already Foreshadowed Langston’s Death

Calvin Franz (Luke Bilyk) in Reacher season 2

The third episode of Reacher season 2 opens with Franz (Luke Bilyk) being tortured by Langston and his men, which includes the former breaking Franz’s legs with a bar. Langston is later seen preparing Franz to be thrown from the helicopter, but before he’s dropped, Franz laughs and tells Langston he’s thinking about “What the big guy is going to do to you!”

Even though Franz knows he’s doomed, he takes some comfort in knowing that once Reacher hears about his murder, he’ll seek revenge on his behalf. This foreshadows Langston’s impending fate, as he appears destined to be thrown from the very same helicopter in the finale. Of course, there are a few more episodes to go before Reacher pays off his threat – but it will be all the sweeter when it lands.
