Amazing Sabine Art Perfectly Captures Ahsoka’s Jedi Padawan

Impressive Ahsoka-inspired Star Wars art perfectly captures Ahsoka Tano’s new Jedi Padawan, Sabine Wren. One of the biggest surprises of the Ahsoka show was the reintroduction of the Mandalorian Sabine Wren as a Jedi in training. Before, in Star Wars Rebels, where she made her debut, there had never been any indication that she was Force-sensitive. Sabine is nothing if not tenacious, however, and if Ahsoka believed in her ability to become a Jedi, then Sabine was bound to do everything in her power to become one – and in the end, she did, unlocking her connection to the Force and saving her friend Ezra Bridger in the process.

Sabine’s experiences before and during Star Wars Rebels contributed to her daring and steadfast personality. Though those facets of her character made her a strong Mandalorian warrior and an essential Rebel operative, they may have also held her back from unlocking the Force sooner.

Why Did It Take So Long For Sabine To “Unlock” The Force?

Even whilst training to wield the Darksaber with two Jedi helping her, there was never any true indication that Sabine was Force-sensitive. So, what changed? Most Jedi discover their connection to the Force from a young age. When the Jedi Order still existed, younglings were brought to the Jedi Temple when they were just toddlers to start learning the ways of the Force and become proper Jedi. Most Jedi are naturally gifted and connected to the Force – some more so than others. But now, Sabine has proven that perhaps anyone can find that connection as long as they dig deep enough.

Previous Star Wars characters who only discovered their connection to the Force later in life were famously powerful due to their heritage. Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, for instance, and Rey Skywalker, too. As far as we know, those conditions don’t apply to Sabine, either. Perhaps Sabine had a harder time connecting with that side of herself because of her Mandalorian history. Mandalorians are traditionally incredibly headstrong and stubborn – all character traits that made her that much more determined to finally unlock her Force abilities, but which may have equally held her back from believing in her own power and natural affinity for the Force for all those years. Whatever the case may be, Sabine’s unlocking in Ahsoka creates endless opportunities for the Jedi to rebuild in the future.
