All Star Wars Movies & TV Shows In 2024

The current era of Star Wars is flourishing more than ever before, with plenty of content slated for the near-future. Following on the heels of 2023’s jam-packed release schedule, Star Wars has another busy year planned in 2024. Star Wars movies are high on the priority list for the first time since the sequel Star Wars trilogy, and the global success of The Mandalorian has opened the door for many new Star Wars Disney+ TV shows to come to light – both animated and live-action.

In addition to a wide variety of content, the upcoming Star Wars movies and Disney+ TV shows also cover a wide range of time periods in the Star Wars galaxy. Shows such as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka take place 5 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, creating what is now referred to as the New Republic Era – a time period that’s being explored more in 2024. There will also be a return to the Dark Times of the Imperial era, as well as a look to the years long before the Skywalker saga. With plenty of exploration in store, these are all the Star Wars stories that will come in 2024.

No Star Wars Movies Are Expected To Release In 2024

Although 2024 will certainly be another big year of Star Wars content, no movies will be a part of the schedule. The earliest release date for a Star Wars movie is in 2025, as shared at Star Wars Celebration 2023. Star Wars will remain on Disney+ in 2024 instead of in the theater, but at least there will be some more Star Wars movies to come, with the last one having premiered in 2019. Rey’s New Jedi Order film, Dave Filoni’s The Mandalorian movie, James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi project, and the Lando movie are just a few that are currently in the works.

Star Wars movies have finally become a priority for Lucasfilm again, which means that production for the next film will begin in 2024. It’s unknown yet if the strikes will impact the 2025 release window, but regardless, its heightened priority guarantees that its production will start next year. Rey’s New Jedi Order movie has been set as the first to release, and so it will likely be the first to go into production. This was first revealed at Star Wars Celebration in 2023, as was Daisy Ridley’s return to Star Wars as Rey Skywalker to lead the movie.

What Star Wars TV Shows Are Expected To Release In 2024

Skeleton Crew

Jude Law as seen in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

The coming-of-age Star Wars show will take place in the New Republic Era, following a group of kids who get lost in the galaxy following a discovery made on their home planet. Jude Law is playing the lead as an unnamed Force-user, and the style of the series has been described as similar to that of Amblin Entertainment. Jon Watts and Christopher Ford are at the creative helm, but Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will serve as executive producers, presumably leading Skeleton Crew towards tying into The Mandalorian movie that will act as the climax of these spin-off stories. The series was originally slated for a late 2023 release, but it’s been rumored that the date has been pushed back to early 2024 following delays due to the Hollywood strikes.

The Bad Batch Season 3

Clone Force 99 In The Bad Batch Season 2

The Bad Batch season 2 wrapped up in early 2023 with a devastating finale that’s left Clone Force 99 with a quest to find Omega. It was revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2023 that The Bad Batch season 3 will be the final season of the beloved Star Wars: The Clone Wars spin-off, and that it will arrive in 2024. Season 3 is currently in production and currently has no plans to change its 2024 release window, and it’s expected that the final season will tie into The Mandalorian as well as the sequel Star Wars trilogy – especially in regard to cloning. It’s assumed that season 3 will have 16 episodes like its past two seasons, and characters such as Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand will be returning.

Andor Season 2

Cassian Andor in Andor season 1 episode 12

Another beloved Star Wars TV show will see its final season aired in 2024, with Andor season 2’s 12 episodes detailing the four years of Cassian Andor’s life that lead straight into the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Coming off of a profoundly successful and well-received first season, Andor season 2 is highly anticipated, and has thus been given an August 2024 release date. A special look was given to attendees at Star Wars Celebration in 2023, but given its current production status, nothing has yet been released publicly. Filming was just a few weeks away from being completed when the strikes began, but there are no updates yet on if this will affect season 2’s 2024 release.

The Acolyte

Amandla Stenberg and Vernestra Rwoh.

The Acolyte will be the first Star Wars TV series to look beyond the timeline of the Skywalker saga, taking place 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. The “mystery thriller” series will see the fall of the Jedi through the perspective of the Sith, also making it the first Star Wars live-action story told from a Sith’s point of view. A trailer was unveiled at Star Wars Celebration 2023, but the jam-packed Jedi action trailer has yet to be released to the public. Leslye Headland’s 8-episode series has been slated for a 2024 release, and even with the strikes, its current post-production status puts the dark side Star Wars project on track for a Disney+ drop in the earlier part of the year.
