All Of Us Are Dead Season 2’s Story Must Avoid 1 Mistake That Almost Ruined Season 1

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2’s Story Must Avoid 1 Mistake That Almost Ruined Season 1

All of Us Are Dead season 2 must not replicate one storyline that almost doomed season 1. Although All of Us Are Dead season 2’s release date may still be far away considering the show wasn’t listed on Netflix’s 2024 K-drama slate, there are plenty of theories regarding where the show is going next. The end of season 1 saw the destruction of Hyosan followed by the death of Cheong-san, and now the remaining characters have reunited with Nam-ra after living in a quarantine zone for a couple of months.

Although there were a lot of All of Us Are Dead characters in season 1, the show was led by four of them – On-jo, Cheong-san, Nam-ra, and Su-hyeok. These four were also the ones at the center of the show’s romance plotline, which started as a love triangle involving three of them. All of Us Are Dead found the time to include some romantic drama amidst the zombie apocalypse, and while most of it worked, the attempt at creating rival couples or even a love quadrangle was not the best part of the show.

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Should Not Have A Love Triangle

This was season 1’s least interesting aspect

All of Us Are Dead season 2 may see the return of all four main characters, but it does not need to include another love triangle. It can be argued that season 1 featured a love quadrangle, with the four lead characters tangled in a confusing web of relationships. Cheong-san liked On-jo; On-jo wanted the ask Su-hyeok on a date, and Su-hyeok was interested in Nam-ra. Additionally, Cheong-san and Su-hyeok were friends, yet the former believed he was competing with the latter for the love of On-jo. While this made for some fun scenes, season 2 could do without it.

There is not a love quadrangle in the webtoon All of Us Are Dead is based on, meaning this storyline was created for the show. It makes sense to add a bit more romantic drama into a TV show, especially because K-drama often nails romance storylines and can make the most of the genre’s tropes. However, All of Us Are Dead is much more than its two main romantic couples, which is why the show does not need to rely on love triangle drama or misunderstandings to create fun and engaging plotlines.

All of Us Are Dead’s couples were an interesting part of the first season, and they added another layer of emotional connection between the viewers and the characters. For example, Cheong-san refused to die because he wanted to confess his love for On-jo, which gave him the strength to face countless zombies until he could reunite with her. Additionally, Nam-ra’s feelings for Su-hyeok helped her become close to the rest of the group, which solidified her character arc and made her a true “class president.” The romance angle also made Cheong-san’s presumable death way more tragic.

All Of Us Are Dead Season 1’s Ending Already Nailed All The Couples

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2’s Story Must Avoid 1 Mistake That Almost Ruined Season 1

The biggest reason why All of Us Are Dead season 2’s story should not lean into the romance drama aspect of the show is that season 1’s finale already nailed all the couples. Although On-jo thought she liked Su-hyeok, it was clear from the start that neither of them was truly interested in the other person. On-jo had feelings for Cheong-san, whereas Su-hyeok fell for Nam-ra. These were the show’s true couples, and any other scenarios were just red herrings. Fortunately, both Cheong-san and On-jo and Nam-ra and Su-hyeok were “endgame” at the end of the season.

Su-hyeok and Nam-ra shared their first kiss when the characters were still inside the school waiting for the best moment to escape from the zombies. Nam-ra was trying to control her zombie powers, but being close to Su-hyeok helped her suppress the transformation. Cheong-san and On-jo, on the other hand, only revealed their feelings to each other in episode 11, right before Cheong-san stayed behind to stop Gwi-nam. Although neither of those couples had a truly happy ending considering what happened next, it was still a very definite conclusion to their love stories.

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Should Be About Getting The Couples Back Together

Instead of trying to recreate the love quadrangle of the first season, All of Us Are Dead season 2 should be about reuniting the two main couples. Although Cheong-san will likely return in season 2, the fact is that the character is currently thought to be dead by everyone. If Cheong-san did survive somehow, season 2 will get to feature a very emotional reunion between him and On-jo. This potential reunion can also be bittersweet, namely because Cheong-san was bitten by Gwi-nam and should now be a halfbie.

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2’s Nam-ra Story Means Her Season 1 Nickname Will Finally Make Sense

Nam-ra changed a lot during All of Us Are Dead season 1, and she will finally earn her previously ironic “class president” title in season 2.

Su-hyeok and Nam-ra both survived, but they are currently not together. Nam-ra decided to leave the group and live on her own so that she would not hurt anyone. While Nam-ra has now mastered her powers and is helping other halfbies survive out in the open, it does not seem like she will come back with the group – nor could she given the military is hunting all zombies. Therefore, it is safe to say All of Us Are Dead couples won’t be together at the beginning of season 2, which creates some exciting story possibilities for the show.

All Of Us Are Dead Can Still Have Romance Drama Without A Love Triangle

All of Us Are Dead doesn’t have to abandon romance altogether

All of Us Are Dead is an action-packed horror K-drama, but the romance and the couples also played a significant role in the show’s success. The series should not abandon this part of the story, which does not mean it needs to double down on the love triangle – or quadrangle – angle for season 2. All of Us Are Dead can still have emotional, heartwarming moments centered on the relationship between its four main characters without creating unnecessary drama between them. The two couples are already established, and this should not be lost going into season 2.

The fact that Cheong-san is presumably dead and Nam-ra is living outside the quarantine zone means All of Us Are Dead season 2 could try to create some drama between On-jo and Su-hyeok. Hopefully, this will not be the case, as it would throw away all of the character arcs from season 1. All of Us Are Dead can also introduce new couples, such as having Mi-jin and Ha-ri be together. That is not to mention potential new characters that might join the cast of All of Us Are Dead in season 2.
