As such, LEGO’s new Star Wars offerings in May are an exciting combination celebrating both the first prequel movie in particular and the galaxy far, far away at large. BARC Speed Escape (75378) comes with two 501st Legion clone trooper minifigures, Grogu, and the first-ever minifigure of Kelleran Beq himself featuring his blue and green lightsabers and a unique gold trim on his Jedi robes. Depicting the exciting Order 66 flashback from The Mandalorian season 3, Grogu is featured in the sidecar from the scene when Beq rescues the child and the duo flees on a speeder bike from the burning Jedi Temple. As such, it’s also worth noting that this set would go perfectly with LEGO’s Coruscant Guard Gunship (75354) which was released in 2023.

Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator (75383) is the first major set in 2024 from the first prequel movie, The Phantom Menace. The fifth iteration of the classic dark side ship, this new model is updated with greater detail as well as some most welcome density (some prior models had large gaps between pieces). Likewise, the minifigures are very exciting with a new Darth Maul, a Qui-Gon Jinn wearing his Tatooine poncho, and a young Anakin Skywalker. The set also comes with Rogue One and Andor’s Saw Gerrera, an exciting LEGO Star Wars 25th-anniversary bonus minifigure with some great details and printing.

Celebrating The Phantom Menace’s 25th anniversary, May 1st will also see the release of Droideka (75381). Coming in with a piece count of 583 pieces, the new model is the latest in a recent trend of larger droid models such as BB8, BD-1, and most recently R2-D2 (75379) which was released earlier this year in 2024. The model also comes with its own display stand and a Droideka minifigure for scale.

Also known as Destroyer Droids, Droidekas were created by the Trade Federation and could fold into rolling wheel forms to quickly close in on targets. They could then unfold and activate personal shield generators, making them incredibly formidable. While this new LEGO model won’t feature shields, it will be able to fold into its wheel form (a very cool feature by all accounts).

The first-ever Star Wars diorama for the prequel era, Mos Espa Podrace (75380) is a very exciting build depicting the Boota Eve podrace in which young Anakin Skywalker goes head-to-head against Tatooine’s reigning champion Sebulba. Featuring a 718-piece count, Anakin and Sebulba’s pods are depicted speeding through canyons in this very exciting model. As such, it’s another great Phantom Menace for collectors to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary.

There have been minifigure-sized versions of Anakin and Sebulba’s podracers in the past. However, this new diorama model will certainly appeal to older collectors who are simply looking for a more compact display model for their desks or bookshelves. Considering The Phantom Menace came out 25 years ago, it’s a solid bet that there are perhaps more adult LEGO fans looking to get their hands on Episode I models than kids.

LEGO is also releasing a brand-new BrickHeadz model of Clone Commander Cody. Featuring a modest 147 pieces and priced at $10, this new Cody model is an inexpensive grab for collectors who prefer LEGO over Pop Figures (but still like the bigger character style). Likewise, the new Cody model also comes with a clear blue stud, depicting his holo-message from Emperor Palpatine and his orders to execute Order 66.

LEGO is also releasing a new Ultimate Collectors Series model, one tied to LEGO’s 25-year history with Star Wars. With the very first version being released in the year 2000, the new TIE Interceptor (75382) is a very exciting addition to the UCS line, offering an updated model of a set that was first made over two decades ago. Featuring over 1900 pieces with some impressive details, the new UCS TIE Interceptor is certainly going to be a big draw for LEGO Star Wars collectors on May the Fourth.

Coming with its own stand and display plaque, the UCS model also comes with an arm-printed TIE pilot as well as an Imperial mouse droid. Likewise, the new TIE Interceptor should also pair well with 2023’s UCS X-Wing. To that end, the interior of the TIE’s cockpit features some truly impressive details as well, including a targeting display with a lock on an X-Wing.

Featuring a whole cast of BrickHeadz models inspired by the first prequel movie, Phantom Menace (40676) features 6 different characters. This includes Qui-Gon Jinn, Queen Amidala, Anakin Skywalker, Jar Jar Binks, Captain Panaka, and Darth Sidious’ Sith apprentice Darth Maul. Priced at $55, that breaks down to about $9 per character, which is certainly not a bad deal by any means. That said, it might have been more exciting to get either an Obi-Wan Kenobi, Watto, or a non-plated C-3PO Brickheadz model as opposed to the more forgettable Captain Panaka.

In celebration of LEGO Star Wars’ 25th anniversary, the LEGO Group will also be releasing The Force of Creativity for pre-order on May 1st, a comprehensive guide about the LEGO Star Wars line and its impressive history. Coming in at 312 pages, The Force of Creativity will offer new insights and details about the evolution of the LEGO Star Wars line ever since its inception in 1999. Naturally, this book is geared toward adult collectors (with adult money).

That being said, the book will come with some exciting features such as a dynamic “time capsule” cover. There will also be some dynamic exclusives such as development art for an unleased Zam Wessell minifigure as well as a replica of the 1999 Toy Fair invitation box that truly began LEGO’s partnership with Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise.

Continuing LEGO’s annual tradition, May the Fourth will also feature some exciting gifts with various LEGO purchases. For example, any order over $40 or more between May 1 and May 5th will receive the aforementioned AAT polybag for free. Likewise, any orders in the same period above $90 will also receive a Battle of Yavin collectible coin. Coming in a special case, the coin depicts the moment when Darth Vader had Luke Skywalker in his sights inside the Death Star trench at the end of A New Hope.

Lastly, it’s also been revealed that any order above $160 will receive the first two gifts as well as the brand-new Trade Federation Troop Carrier (40686). Mirroring the original Battle Droid Troop Carrier from 2015, this new model is a somewhat smaller build. However, the Trade Federation Troop Carrier will still feature two blue Battle Droid pilots as well as six standard B1 Battle Droids. As a result, getting that many battle droids as a bonus gift will certainly be exciting for LEGO Star Wars army builders.
