All 6 Members Of Smallville’s Justice League, Ranked Weakest To Strongest

Smallville‘s Justice League featured some big names, but despite all of the team’s heroes having an interesting skill set, some were more powerful than others. While Smallville focused on the journey of Tom Welling’s Clark Kent from a high school student to Superman, with the character only suiting up in the series finale, later seasons of the series introduced several heroes from the DC Universe. As Clark began to operate as the Red-Blue Blur and later as the Blur before becoming Superman, Smallville changed from a coming-of-age tale into a full-on superhero series. That led to the introduction of Smallville‘s Justice League, with major comic book heroes working with Clark.

Smallville‘s version of DC’s premiere superhero team, the Justice League, consisted of Welling’s Clark Kent, Justin Hartley’s Green Arrow, Alan Ritchson’s Aquaman, Kyle Gallner’s Impulse, Lee Thompson Young’s Cyborg, and Alaina Huffman’s Black Canary. While a Smallville season 11 would never get made, the series continued its story after season 10 through “Smallville Season 11” comics, which added new heroes to the show’s Justice League, such as Batman and Wonder Woman. While the series might never have featured DC’s Trinity, Smallville‘s Justice League was powerful enough, with each member bringing their particular talents to the table, even if some were stronger or weaker.

6 Black Canary

Dinah Lance is one of DC’s most skilled hand-to-hand fighters, and the character certainly could hold her own in Smallville. Aiding her fighting skills is the fact that Smallville‘s Black Canary was incredibly acrobatic, able to easily dodge her way out of enemies’ blows and do flips and jumps mid-fight. Black Canary also carried throwing knifes with her, and the hero was very skilled with the weapons, adding a nice variety to her fights. While Black Canary was a skilled hand-to-hand fighter, her biggest power in Smallville was her Canary Cry, a sonic scream that breaks objects and can either heavily hurt enemies or leave them unconscious.

5 Cyborg

Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, was a former high school football player before the car crash that killed his family and severely injured him. After Dr. Alistair Kreig put Victor back together with mechanical enhancements, which were not seen in the character’s exterior like is normally done for the hero, he became Cyborg. The Smallville Justice League hero had some of the same features that Cyborg is known to have in the comics, such as firing energy blasts from his hands and possessing super strength. In Smallville, Cyborg’s hacking skills were displayed by the hero’s left eye essentially turning into a supercomputer.

4 Green Arrow

Smallville‘s Green Arrow is the only Justice League hero not to have any superpowers, but that does not make him a lesser threat to villains in the slightest. To make up for his lack of powers, Oliver Queen manages to keep up with the other Justice League members by keeping his body operating at peak human form, with the character not only being as strong as a human can be, but also having extraordinary reflexes, with many episodes of the series showing Oliver either dodging enemies or running around rooftops. Green Arrow elevates his physical condition by having mastered several martial arts, making him one of Smallville‘s best hand-to-hand fighters.

Topping the hero’s skills is Green Arrow’s archery ability, which is second to none. Oliver is an expert marksman, with instances such as when he shot Zod with a Kryptonite arrow or when he hit the exact spot he wanted on the Daily Planet’s globe all the way from the rooftop of Queen Tower, showing his extraordinary archery skills. Smallville‘s Green Arrow was the show’s Batman in a way, though Hartley’s version retained Green Arrow’s comic book personality, which Stephen Amell’s Oliver from Arrow did not. In Smallville, Green Arrow occupied Batman’s role of being the resourceful, rich human hero who led the Justice League.

3 Impulse

Smallville‘s lead speedster was neither Barry Allen nor Wally West, but rather Bart Allen — Impulse. Bart’s powers hinged on his superhuman speed, with Impulse being able to even outrace Welling’s Clark Kent when jogging backward, which shows just how fast the Justice League hero was. Bart’s great stamina also helped him beat villains. Much like the comics and Grant Gustin and Ezra Miller’s versions of The Flash, Smallville‘s Impulse could consume large amounts of food without gaining weight, as he burned through what he consumed quickly due to his super metabolism. Impulse’s metabolism granted the character a healing factor, which allowed him to recover from injuries faster.

2 Aquaman

Arthur Curry aka Aquaman in the Season 9 premiere in Smallvillei

Before he was Hawk in Titans, Ritchson gave life to Smallville‘s Aquaman. In the series, the young Arthur Curry had several of the powers that the hero possesses in the comics. Smallville‘s version of Aquaman could breathe underwater, with the hero having enhanced vision and hearing while underwater, which greatly helped him in fights that take took place in the water. Aquaman could also swim long distances at great speeds. Making him an even more formidable threat when surrounded by water, Smallville‘s Aquaman could communicate with all marine life and had the power of Hydrokinesis, which consists of manipulating water with his mind. Aquaman also had super strength.

1 Superman

Finally, Smallville‘s main hero, Superman, was the strongest member of the Justice League. Throughout Smallville‘s ten seasons, DC fans were treated to the slow reveals of Clark’s powers, with the character learning how to control them one at a time. At the end of the series, Clark became Superman, already having mastered all of the hero’s signature powers. Like in the comics, Smallville‘s Superman got his powers thanks to the Earth’s yellow sun. Clark showed throughout the series several feats of super strength, which included the character going face-to-face with powerful Superman villains like Doomsday and Zod, with Superman also lifting an entire planet and sending it back into space.

Several other signature Superman powers appeared in the series. Before flying, Smallville featured Clark using a super leap that allowed him to cross great distances in a single bound. While it was not on par with Impulse’s powers, Welling’s Clark also possessed super speed, which at times was displayed as the character slowing time around him and, in others, appeared through Clark zipping across the screen. As a Kryptonian, Superman was invulnerable while under a yellow sun. Smallville also featured key Superman powers such as heat vision, X-ray vision, super hearing, super breath, freeze breath, flight, and more. With all those powers, Superman was Smallville‘s strongest Justice League member.
