All 10 Confirmed Sweet Home Characters Returning For Season 3 (Including Song Kang’s Hyun-su)

All 10 Confirmed Sweet Home Characters Returning For Season 3 (Including Song Kang’s Hyun-su)

Netflix’s 2024 K-drama slate update confirms some of the Sweet Home characters who will return in season 3 and reveals where the show is going next. Described as a “grand finale” by Netflix, Sweet Home 3 premiers in 2024 and could be the end of the show. Given how Sweet Home season 2’s ending included a lot of cliffhangers, the upcoming season is set to be when all the answers and the action will be delivered.

The Sweet Home cast grew a lot in season 2, with many new characters introduced before and after the time skip. Although introducing multiple new faces and sidelining the original characters was a risky decision, Sweet Home’s new players helped expand the scope of the show. The first look at Sweet Home 3 reveals which of them will have major roles in the new season and teases what will happen to them.

10 Lee Eun-hyeok (Lee Do-hyun)

Eun-hyeok is alive

All 10 Confirmed Sweet Home Characters Returning For Season 3 (Including Song Kang’s Hyun-su)

As revealed at the end of Sweet Home season 2, Eun-hyeok is alive. Lee Do-hyun’s character stayed behind during season 1’s finale and was inside the Green Home building when it collapsed, raising the question of what had happened to him. Just before the building was destroyed, Eun-hyeok was seen bleeding from his nose, suggesting he was about to turn into a monster. Now, the official synopsis for Sweet Home season 3 confirms that Eun-hyeok was inside a monster cocoon, which appears to be the next step of the curse’s evolution. Whether Eun-hyeok is evil now remains to be seen.

9 Cha Hyun-su (Song Kang)

Hyun-su’s journey continues

Song Kang’s Hyun-su was barely in Sweet Home season 2, which led to some criticism. However, the character eventually returned toward the end of the season and is now reunited with Eun-yu. Hyun-su has also learned what happened to Ji-su and the others, meaning he is now “caught up” with the events of the series and could be more directly involved with the main storyline. Sweet Home season 2’s finale saw Hyun-su’s monster self taking over, which is worrying considering how powerful he has become. Season 3 may explore Hyun-su’s struggle to control his monster self.

8 Pyeon Sang-wook (Lee Jin-wook)

Sang-wook is not really Sang-wook

Although Lee Jin-wook’s Sweet Home character is officially listed as Pyeon Sang-wook in cast guides and reference material, Sang-wook died during season 1’s finale. Lee Jin-wook is actually playing Ui-myeong, who is currently inhabiting Sang-wook’s body. Ui-myeong is not even the character’s real identity but rather another possessed body he has been using. Ui-myeong is Sang-won, the missing fiancé of Yi-kyung, who was used as a test subject by the government and now wants to create a world ruled by neo-humans. He is currently overseeing experiments in a secret lab.

7 Seo Yi-kyung (Lee Si-young)

Yi-kyung didn’t die in Sweet Home season 2

Perhaps the most surprising Sweet Home season 3 update is that Lee Si-young will return, meaning Yi-kyung did not die at the end of season 2. The finale of the previous season saw Hyun-su fighting Yi-kyung, who had been brought back to life by her daughter but as a monster. Yi-kyung’s transformation was not complete, though, and now she is half human and half monster. Season 2’s finale made it seem like Yi-kyung had died again after the battle, but this is not the case – the character will return in season 3.

6 Lee Eun-yu (Go Min-si)

Eun-yu will reunite with her brother

Eun-yu in Sweet Home season 2, episode 4

Eun-yu spent all of Sweet Home season 2 looking for her brother, hoping that he was still out there somewhere. Go Min-si’s character believed that Eun-hyeok was protecting her from the shadows, which was only partially correct. Eun-hyeok was indeed alive, but the one protecting Eun-yu was actually Hyun-su. Regardless, one of the first official Sweet Home season 3 images sees Eun-hyeok, Eun-yu, and Hyun-su walking together, confirming the two siblings will reunite. However, the image has a somewhat sinister look to it, suggesting this reunion may not be a happy one.

5 Private Park Chan-yeong (Jinyoung)

Chang-yeong is returning to the stadium

Private Park Chan-yeong (Jinyoung) holding a gun in Sweet Home

Park Chan-yeong, played by Jinyoung, was one of the new Sweet Home season 2 characters. He became close to the show’s original protagonists at the beginning of the season when he helped bring them from the Green Home to the stadium, creating a special connection with Eun-yu. The two of them found some trouble after they left a quest, and now it has been confirmed that Chan-yeong will return to the stadium in season 3. With many of his friends dead and a crisis about to explode in the stadium, Chan-yeong is in for a surprise.

4 Master Sergeant Tak In-hwan (Yoo Oh-seong)

Will Sergeant Tak’s secret be revealed?

Sergeant Tak smiling in Sweet Home season 2

Sergeant Tak is one of the most mysterious Sweet Home characters, going from what seemed to be a ruthless military man to a complex leader who is hiding a major secret from the rest of the group. Tak has been trying to keep the peace and order at the stadium, and while he does not like killing monsters, he is willing to sacrifice others if it means keeping the stadium stable. However, Tak himself is infected, as revealed at the end of season 2. Whether he will transform in season 3 could define the fate of the stadium.

3 Dr. Lim (Oh Jung-se)

Dr. Lim’s research continues

Dr Lim in Sweet Home season 2

Introduced in season 2, Dr. Lim has become a key part of the Sweet Home universe. He seems to be the only person capable of creating a vaccine or a cure for the curse, but the scientist appears to be more interested in seeing how far the monster cycle goes. Dr. Lim recently learned that the monsters are evolving, which season 3 is set to explore. However, Dr. Lim is currently a prisoner of Ui-myeong, who was used as a test subject by the scientist when the outbreak began. Dr. Lim could now be forced to work for Ui-myeong.

2 Sergeant Kim Yeong-hu (Kim Moo-yeol)

Sergeant Kim has seen a lot

Sergeant Kim Yeong-hu (Kim Moo-yeol) in Sweet Home

Sergeant Kim went outside with his platoon, hoping to find what was left from Dr. Lim’s research so the scientist could create a vaccine on a large scale. However, most of Sergeant Kim’s men were killed, and Dr. Lim was kidnapped. The Sweet Home season 3 synopsis indicates that Yeong-hu will not return to the stadium right away but will instead continue looking for answers in the outside world. Yeong-hu is heading to Bamseom, where new characters are set to be introduced.

1 The Girl (Kim Si-a)

Sweet Home’s most powerful character

Sweet Home’s monster kid, a character who is only referred to as “the Girl,” will return in season 3. Considering she can turn other people into monsters just by touching them and can control their actions afterward, it is safe to say the Girl is Sweet Home’s most powerful character – by far. Yi-kyung’s daughter can also read minds, and her powers may be the key to end or at least understand more about the curse. How and to what ends the Girl will use her powers will be interesting to see.
