Alien Series Casts Foundation Star As Major Weyland-Yutani Employee While Filming Continues

Alien has added an important new Weyland-Yutani employee to the cast. The Weyland-Yutani Corporation has been a major recurring element in the science fiction franchise ever since the original 1979 movie. The British-Japanese conglomerate has been behind several major attempts to capitalize on the deadly Xenomorph alien, sacrificing many innocent lives in the process. They will similarly be featured in a significant role in the upcoming show, which was created by writer-director Noah Hawley and is slated to premiere on FX in 2025.

Per Deadline, the Alien show has added Sandra Yi Sencindiver to the cast as filming continues in Thailand. She will be taking on a role as one of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation senior members, who will appear across multiple episodes and has a possible expanded future in the franchise. At the time of writing, no further details about her character have been revealed. She joins a cast that already includes Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, and David Rysdahl.

The Alien Star Has Prior Experience In Sci-Fi And Fantasy

Before joining the Alien franchise, Sencindiver has racked up quite a bit of experience in major properties in the science fiction and fantasy genres. Most recently, the American-Danish-Korean actor has played Enjoiner Rue in nine episodes of the Apple TV+ show Foundation, a lavish streaming television production adapting a series of short stories by legendary sci-fi author Isaac Asimov. She preceded that role with a two-episode stint as Lady Amalisa on Prime Video’s Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson adaptation The Wheel of Time.

Before taking on those major English-language roles, Sencindiver largely appeared in television projects in the Danish and Swedish languages. While these titles generally weren’t in the science fiction or fantasy genres, they represent a wide range of other genres. Some of her longest-running roles came in series including the soapy drama 2900 Happiness, the mystery-thriller The Bridge, the hostage thriller Gidseltagningen, and the crime drama Bäckström.

She is also slated to star opposite Emily Carey and Tim Downie in the upcoming show Geek Girl, adapting the Holly Smale novel of the same name, though this Weyland-Yutani role offers her one of her largest roles to date. The new FX show’s place in the overall Alien franchise timeline allows plenty of room for the actor’s new character to grow in possible further installments of the story. While this adds pressure to Sencindiver’s important role, she has ample experience that should allow her to easily blossom should she be given the opportunity.
