Director Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is the movie that’s responsible for kicking off Walt Disney Pictures’ current wave of live-action fairy tale projects, so it’s perhaps fitting that it will also be the first of those films to get a sequel. Said followup, titled Alice Through the Looking Glass, will once again star Mia Wasikowska as the adventurous and independent Alice Kingsleigh, while helming duties on the project were taken up by James Bobin (The Muppets (2011), Muppets Most Wanted) instead of Burton.

The first Alice Through the Looking Glass trailer teaser dropped in coordination with the start of the time change in the U.S. this past week (at the time of writing this), and over the days since Disney has released additional 5-10 second clips from the sequel’s first theatrical preview. We’ve rounded up those clips here starting with the most recent teaser (see above), ahead of the Looking Glass trailer dropping online tomorrow, November 5th.

Alice Though the Looking Glass follows Alice as she sets out on an adventure to stop the trouble-making Time (Sacha Baron Cohen) – a villain who, by way of time-travel, has messed with history and in turn created a dark and troubling version of Wonderland/Underland in the present. (The plot is Alice in Wonderland meets Back to the Future Part II, in other words.) The above Looking Glass trailer teaser shows what is presumably the interior of Time’s lair/fortress, complete with massive pendulums and a general air of unpleasantness.

Additional teasers released for Alice Through the Looking Glass feature brief appearances by the Blue Butterfly – formerly the Blue Caterpillar (Alan Rickman) – who it seems is the one to lead Alice back to Wonderland/Underland from the real world. Meanwhile, another clip offers a glimpse at the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), who has either returned to power (in the present) or will be a powerful threat again when Alice travels back in time to fix things.

Wasikowska has said that Alice Through the Looking Glass features more in the way of practical sets than its CGI-heavy predecessor did, but these Looking Glass teaser clips indicate that the sequel won’t look that different than Burton’s Alice film (in term of color palette and general aesthetic). On the other hand, Looking Glass – which, like Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, was scripted by Linda Woolverton and is based loosely on Lewis Carroll’s Alice books – reads as being more appropriately topsy-turvy than its predecessor (which had more of a straight-forward hero’s journey narrative by comparison).

Also returning for Alice Through the Looking Glass is Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter – along with his fellow Alice in Wonderland alums Anne Hathaway (as The White Queen) and Michael Sheen (The White Rabbit) – while the list of cast newcomers will include Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man) as Zanik Hightopp, the Mad Hatter’s father.
