Ahsoka star Diana Lee Inosanto has explained how her real-world fighting styles influences the part of Lady Morgan Elsbeth in The Mandalorian season 2 and Ahsoka. Introduced in The Mandalorian season 2, Morgan Elsbeth possessed apparently unwavering loyalty to Grand Admiral Thrawn; as seen in Ahsoka, she was willing to travel to a distant galaxy to bring him home. But Morgan was no mere commander in the Empire; she was also a Nightsister of Dathomir, a skilled warrior who was able to engage Ahsoka Tano in battle on two occasions.

While it hasn’t been announced, Ahsoka season 2 has a high probability of being made. Here’s everything we know about the project.

Lucasfilm has released a new interview with Ahsoka actress Diana Lee Inosanto, a skilled martial artist in her own right, in which she has explored the real-world inspiration for the fighting styles she displayed with her different weapons. It’s pleasing to see how much Lucasfilm adapted to suit her own gifts and abilities.

Lady Morgan Elsbeth was a true warrior, using both a Mandalorian spear and the mystical Blade of Talzin in battle against Ahsoka.

Diana Lee Inosanto’s Real-World Experience Made These Fight Scenes Extraordinary

Ahsoka has been universally praised for its stunning fight choreography, which built on that traditionally seen in the Star Wars franchise. It achieved this by giving its characters unusual and distinctive weapons; Baylan’s orange lightsaber is wielded like a broadsword, as though it has tremendous weight, while Shin’s is rapier-like. Morgan’s weapons are just as unique; she used a beskar spear in The Mandalorian season 2, and her fighting style with the Blade of Talzin was very different to the handling of a lightsaber. As Inosanto notes, her own skills and experiences factored into these unique portrayals.

It’s exciting to see the cast of Ahsoka finally freed up to talk about their experiences on-set. The actors’ strike meant they were limited in their ability to interact with the fandom when the show aired. They’ve now been taking every opportunity to reflect on their time together, and to celebrate the remarkable success that is Ahsoka.
