Ahsoka Season 2 Needs To Reveal One Last Grand Admiral Thrawn Mystery

Ahsoka Season 2 Needs To Reveal One Last Grand Admiral Thrawn Mystery

Ahsoka‘s first season brought Grand Admiral Thrawn into live-action and revealed what happened to him after Star Wars Rebels, but season 2 still needs to explore one mystery of his time in exile. While there wasn’t time for Ahsoka to explain everything that happened during Thrawn’s nine years in the other galaxy, the show quickly and efficiently summarized most of what the audience needed to know. The season finale perfectly set up Thrawn’s war against the New Republic in Dave Filoni’s The Mandalorian Star Wars movie and left plenty to explore in a potential Ahsoka season 2.

The most significant mystery for Ahsoka to address came from Thrawn’s first scene. His arrival on Peridea raised a question about his time in exile, and the rest of the season introduced new elements to the story that created more mysteries. While Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren being trapped on Peridea means that Thrawn will likely not appear in Ahsoka season 2, the series is already on track to solve this final mystery because of the threat posed on Peridea.

Here is how to watch all Star Wars movies and TV shows chronologically and in order of release, and how each fits into the Star Wars timeline.

Ahsoka Hinted Grand Admiral Thrawn Was Facing An Enemy At Peridea

Thrawn knew Morgan Elsbeth was on her way to bring him out of exile, yet he wasn’t on Peridea when she arrived. He was presumably off-world or at least on a distant part of the planet and only arrived after receiving word that Morgan had landed on the surface. It seems strange that Thrawn would spend almost a decade trapped in another galaxy, only to risk missing his one chance of returning home to bring back the Empire. However, the Ahsoka episodes set on Peridea contain several clues suggesting Thrawn had a good reason for not staying on Peridea longer than necessary.

Baylan Skoll came to Peridea because he sensed a dark power calling to him, and when Shin Hati noted that Thrawn and the Great Mothers were leaving, he proposed that they may be fleeing something more powerful than them. Whatever this power is, the statues in the Ahsoka season finale confirmed a connection to the Force Gods of Mortis, which Thrawn would be wise to avoid. Thrawn told Ezra Bridger in the Star Wars Rebels series finale that he never understood the Force, which would wound a man who prided himself on knowledge and strategy. If this power scared the Nightsisters, then Thrawn would make sure to stay off Peridea.

Ahsoka Season 2 Must Reveal More Of Peridea’s Galaxy

Ahsoka Tano with the new Star Wars galaxy

The mystery surrounding Thrawn and Peridea proves that Ahsoka season 2 must explore this new galaxy in detail. The history of Peridea and the dark power that dwells on it would make for a fascinating story, and the galaxy provides ample opportunity for new tales that don’t have to fit the typical constraints of the Star Wars universe. Ahsoka can also reveal more ancient connections to groups and civilizations besides the Nightsisters or create an entirely original species. Grand Admiral Thrawn’s time on Peridea is the key to these possibilities, making it a mystery that Ahsoka season 2 must solve.
