Agents of SHIELD Star ‘Would Love’ Another Secret Warriors Episode

Star of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Chloe Bennet – who plays Daisy Johnson aka Quake – said she would love another Secret Warriors episode in the series. Bennet’s character, who started off her journey on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the hacker known as Skye, has evolved from a new member of the team to a fully fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and powerful Inhuman. As part of her character arc in season 3, Daisy spent much of her time helping Inhumans that had only recently undergone Terrigenesis, and some of those powered individuals joined her on a short-lived team known as the Secret Warriors.

Based on the team of the same name from the comics, the Secret Warriors only truly worked together for a single season 3 episode, ‘The Team’ – in which the team included Johnson, Lincoln Campbell (Luke Mitchell), Elena Rodriguez aka Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), and Joey Gutierrez (Juan Pablo Raba). But, with Joey written off the show and Lincoln sacrificing himself in the season 3 finale, the Secret Warriors roster has severely diminished on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. That said, Cordova-Buckley is a series regular in season 5, so there will be some Inhumans team-up action.

When asked about a rumor that the Secret Warriors are returning to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in season 5 during a roundtable interview at New York Comic Con, Bennet indicated that won’t be the case (as of now). But the actress went on to say she’d love to see the team return and there will be some team-up action between Quake and Yo-Yo this season:

Agents of SHIELD Star ‘Would Love’ Another Secret Warriors Episode

I would love that – we had like one episode where that kind of happened for a second. My favorite Marvel comic is actually X-Men, which is not [in] our rights, but I love the idea of fight sequences and I love watching people with powers work with each other in that kind of ragtag way where they bounce off each other in unique, comedic ways. That was so fun to get to do that episode. I would love to have more people… I think we’ll see a little bit of that. We have Natalia, who is now a series regular, which has been so fun because she’s brought such a different energy to the show. To have another fellow Inhuman as a legit partner in crime now is kinda fun.

Of course, Marvel Studios has somewhat used Inhumans as a stand-in for mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the rights to the mutants and X-Men belong to 20th Century Fox. In fact, in the comics both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were originally introduced as mutants, but the MCU versions of the characters gained their powers through experiments done by Hydra as revealed in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Still, aside from the Royal Family in Marvel’s Inhumans, the MCU arguably hasn’t featured a team of Inhumans that could rival the X-Men – with the exception of the Secret Warriors’ brief tenure.

Still, there’s room for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to feature another mission for a new team of Secret Warriors at some point down the line – and it seems Bennet is fully on board for that kind of storyline. However, Quake, Yo-Yo and the other agents will have their hands full at the start of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 as they head to space. So, if the Secret Warriors do return, it may not be for some time.
