Warning! Spoilers ahead for Wonder Woman #1!With Wonder Woman’s new series making major waves, comic legend Jim Lee is finally completing his tribute to the DC Universe’s Trinity. As Wonder Woman #1 heads back for a second printing, Lee gives Diana a long overdue cover.

Though it only took a few days, Tom King and Daniel Sampere’s Wonder Woman #1 has already sold out at a distributor level. To keep up with the demand, the debut issue is going back to print with a brand-new cover from Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Alex Sinclair. The second printing of Wonder Woman #1 will be available October 24th.

Additionally, Wonder Woman #1 will also be offered as a foil printing that just focuses on the artwork as part of the “Jim Lee Icons Series”. The new cover will make up the middle part of a triptych image of DC’s Trinity (composed of Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman). A similar cover was published for the special Batman Day edition of Batman #608, and a foil cover featuring Lee’s Man of Steel will be published as part of Superman’s groundbreaking 850th issue. When viewed side-by-side, the covers show the three most iconic heroes in the DC Universe standing guard.

Wonder Woman Gets the Jim Lee Cover She’s Deserved

The debut issue of Wonder Woman came out strong and everyone is discussing the massive changes it’s bringing to Diana’s lore. The issue featured an Amazon killing nearly two dozen men, an act that led to Amazons being banned from the United States. As the new Amazon Extradition Entity rids the country of Amazons, Wonder Woman is fighting back and beginning an investigation into A.X.E.’s mysterious leader, the secret king of America known as the Sovereign.

Fans may have already seen the Lee Batman and Superman covers. The Dark Knight’s cover was originally featured on the second printing of Batman #608, the first chapter of the notable “Hush” storyline. Clark’s cover, on the other hand, was first seen on Superman #204, the beginning of the “For Tomorrow” storyline. While both covers have gone down as epic representations of the World’s Finest, fans have noted that Lee never gave a similar cover for Wonder Woman. Lee, of course, has drawn Wonder Woman covers, but not one that ‘fits’ in the same series as the other two artworks. With Wonder Woman #1 earning such high praise, it only makes sense she gets the cover she’s long been denied.

Jim Lee’s Trinity is Finally Completed With Epic Wonder Woman Artwork

DC Trinity Jim Lee

Both Batman #608 and Superman #204 were the beginnings of notable story arcs for two of DC’s iconic heroes. Though it’s still early, Wonder Woman #1 is already being lauded as one of the best comic books of 2023. It’s only right to honor such an acclaimed opening chapter with artwork that puts Diana on the same level as her peers. Wonder Woman has always been a crucial part of the Trinity, but she’s never gotten a cover from Lee that goes along with his previous Batman and Superman artworks. With this second printing, that mistake is finally corrected and Diana is where she belongs: Side-by-side with her longtime allies. Jim Lee’s second print Wonder Woman #1 cover will be available October 24th.
