After 18 Years, Star Wars Can Finally Show The Tragic Fate Of One Revenge Of The Sith Planet

Kashyyyk played a crucial role in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, and now its fate can be explored in the final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The Wookiee homeworld first appeared in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special before making a full debut in Revenge of the Sith, where the Empire conquered the planet after Order 66. The Bad Batch season 2 showed the conflict between the Wookiees and the Trandoshans, but sadly, this was not the worst to happen to Kashyyk during the reign of the Empire.

The Bad Batch is an excellent epilogue to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, chronicling the early days of the Empire as the galaxy continues its descent into darkness. Showing the unspeakably tragic fate of Kashyyyk in The Bad Batch season 3 would reinforce the Empire’s brutality and add more emotional depth to the final season. The Bad Batch season 2 already showed what would compel Clone Force 99 to return to Kashyyyk and witness its fate for themselves.

How To Watch Star Wars Movies In Order

Here is how to watch all Star Wars movies and TV shows chronologically and in order of release, and how each fits into the Star Wars timeline.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Returned To Kashyyyk

Gungi in Star Wars.

Clone Force 99 met a Wookiee Jedi named Gungi in The Bad Batch season 2, who first appeared as a youngling in The Clone Wars. They helped him save a Wookiee village from Trandoshans, but while they may have won in the short term, the Empire would eventually take complete control of Kashyyyk. Most of the Wookiee population was herded into work camps and overseen by cruel Imperial wardens, while others were sold to work as slaves in the Spice Mines of Kessel. Kashyyyk remained under Imperial control for several months after Return of the Jedi until Chewbacca and Han Solo led a group of rebels to free the planet.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3 Is The Perfect Opportunity To Show Kashyyyk’s Fate

The Wookiees preparing for battle in Revenge oif the Sith

After flawlessly showing the rise of the Empire in its first two seasons, The Bad Batch season 3 is the perfect place to show the tragic fate of Kashyyyk. Gungi could summon Clone Force 99 back to Kashyyyk, showing the grueling conditions the Wookiees live in as they’re herded into camps and taken off-world. It would be especially tragic for Gungi, a Jedi sworn to protect the innocent who now knows the people he never knew growing up. Having Gungi die in battle would solidify the consequences of a Jedi coming out of hiding and be an emotional blow to Omega after losing Tech in season 2.

This would add more context to Chewbacca and other Wookiees who appear later in the timeline. Chewbacca was captured by the Empire while searching for his family, but he was one of the lucky few who escaped Imperial oppression to one day fight for his planet’s freedom. Seeing the beginning of one of the darkest chapters in Star Wars would make the eventual Wookiee uprising more satisfying and add a compelling emotional arc to Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3.
