Adam Warlock Actor Asked Whether He’s A Hero Or Villain In GOTG 3

Adam Warlock actor Will Poulter expertly dodges questions regarding his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 character in a new interview. It’s now been over four years since the release of a Guardians of the Galaxy film, but it has been confirmed that writer and director James Gunn is hard at work on the next installment. While plot details are currently unknown, it was revealed several weeks ago that The Revenant and We’re the Millers actor Will Poulter would be joining the cast as Adam Warlock.

Warlock was first teased in one of the end-credits scenes from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when Ayesha, High Priestess of the Sovereign, unveils a golden cocoon where she has created “Adam”. After the Guardians foiled her plans and destroyed scores of ships from her fleet, the High Priestess reveals that she intends to use Adam to get revenge and destroy the Guardians. Poulter joins returning cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, and Elizabeth Debicki.

In a new interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, Poulter dodges questions regarding his character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and remains tight-lipped after being asked if his character will be good or bad. After more questions from host Jonathan Ross, Poulter jokingly says: “So, because it’s Marvel, I’m kind of sworn to secrecy and I’m actually terrified for the safety of my family lest I say something.” He goes on to say: “He is introduced in this third Guardians of the Galaxy movie. And then, yeah, that’s really all I can say.” Check out the original clip below:

While Poulter stays true to his oath of secrecy, he does drop one hint about Adam Warlock. After being asked if Warlock will be painted gold, Poulter, sitting on a golden yellow sofa, says: “This is a lovely sofa is all I’ll say.” It certainly seems likely, given the golden cocoon and the golden race of Sovereigns, that Warlock will indeed be painted gold. The character of Adam Warlock in the comics is gold as well, after all.

Given James Gunn’s unique writing and directing style and the source material upon which the character is based, it’s likely that Warlock will not clearly be defined as just “good” or “bad”. If the character ends up being a hit, it’s possible, given Marvel’s track record, that a standalone film could be in Poulter’s future. While Guardians of the Galaxy 3 details are currently pretty scarce, viewers will surely get more tidbits of information over the next few months as production on the film gets underway. Gunn is famous for interacting with audiences on social media, so he could provide some additional details moving forward.
