Adam Sandler’s New Movie Continues Incredible Netflix Rotten Tomatoes Trend We Thought Was Impossible

Adam Sandler’s New Movie Continues Incredible Netflix Rotten Tomatoes Trend We Thought Was Impossible

As high Rotten Tomatoes scores and an esteemed new movie indicate, Adam Sandler is currently on an incredible hot streak with his latest Netflix movies. Sandler’s comedies over the past 25 years, notably, have often yielded mixed or negative critical reception, but the actor is turning this reputation around with his latest Netflix hits. Since starring in the Netflix sports comedy-drama Hustle in 2022, Sandler has acted in a string of features that have, for the most part, performed very well for the platform. Fortified with a brand-new release and the promise of an upcoming, star-studded Netflix film come 2024, it appears Sandler will optimistically maintain his stellar Rotten Tomatoes trend.

Of Sandler’s last four acting roles, only Murder Mystery 2 dropped the ball for his incredible Netflix streak, as it could only scrape up a Rotten Tomatoes score of 45% with critics and 46% with audiences. Even so, Murder Mystery 2 mustered surprising near-record success upon its debut, making up for trailing behind Sandler’s more acclaimed entries like 2022’s Hustle and 2023’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah. Hustle received a whopping 93% Rotten Tomatoes score from critics and audiences, and the latter film followed closely behind with a 91% score from critics and 60% from audiences, marking an amazing trend his newest Netflix film continues.

Leo Continues Adam Sandler’s Positive Netflix Streak

Rotten Tomatoes Scores: 82% (Critics), 94% (Audiences)

Recently, Netflix released the satirical coming-of-age animation Leo, which stars Sandler in the lead as Leo the tuatara lizard, who has been confined to a Florida school as a class pet for his entire life. Sandler’s character finds that he’s reaching the end of his species’ lifespan and sets out for a grand adventure before his death. Despite the tragic subject, Leo combines musical asides, light comedy, and the sentimental concept of living hard before death to construct a beautiful narrative that’s been widely celebrated by critics and audiences while leading the streaming charts on Netflix.

Since its debut on November 21, Leo has inhabited Netflix’s top movie chart and sits as the number one movie streaming on Netflix in the United States. Leo’s great reception has been echoed by Rotten Tomatoes as well, retaining “Certified Fresh” scores of 82% from critics and 94% from audiences. Even more, Leo’s reception means that three out of Sandler’s last four movies were verified hits, which indicates not just a hot Netflix streak, but the actor’s best movie trend to date.

How Adam Sandler’s Next Netflix Movie Can Continue His Rotten Tomatoes Trend

Sandler’s star-studded movie Spaceman hits Netflix in 2024

Adam Sandler for upcoming Spaceman movie

It’s entirely possible that Sandler will maintain his Netflix Rotten Tomatoes trend once the platform releases the upcoming science fiction film Spaceman. With a celebrity packed cast including Carey Mulligan, Paul Dano, and Kunal Nayyar, as well as a storyline that will place the film in a position to attract a much larger audience, Spaceman could quite easily continue pulling in great review scores for Sandler. Since Spaceman is set to hit Netflix in 2024, a positive Rotten Tomatoes score would also give Sandler a three-year success streak on the platform.

Spaceman’s story is adapted from the 2017 fictional Czech novel Spaceman of Bohemia, and aims to recreate an independent astronaut’s trip to Venus as he struggles with leaving a pregnant wife behind and the lonely trek through space. Sandler will play the interplanetary traveler and lead character Jakub Procházka in a role that sounds surprisingly moving and worth the wait. Adam Sandler‘s performance in the upcoming Spaceman movie may even have the potential to earn him an Oscar nod, but until then, fans can bet on Spaceman becoming another highly scored film within the actor’s hottest movie streak yet.
