The future of A24’s acclaimed horror franchise X gets an exciting tease from director Ti West. The 2022 eponymous slasher portrays the gruesome violence inflicted upon a pornographic movie crew by elderly couple Pearl and Howard, whose Texas farmhouse they rented. Led by Mia Goth’s dual performance as both Pearl and survivor Maxine, the cast of X includes Brittany Snow, Martin Henderson, Scott Mescudi, Jenna Ortega, and Owen Campbell. Less than six months later, the prequel Pearl: An X-traordinary Origin Story was released and will be followed by MaXXXine.
Appearing on What’s Under the Bed?, West teased a potential fourth installment to the X franchise. During the interview, West was asked about an additional entry and explained that he has another idea but is choosing to focus on MaXXXine right now. Could The X Franchise Get One More Movie?
The first two movies, X and Pearl, generated over $15 million and $10 million, respectively, against low budgets of approximately $1 million each.
