A Quiet Place 2 Featurette Teases Sequel Timeline

Paramount Pictures has unveiled a new featurette for the forthcoming A Quiet Place Part II offering viewers a tease of what the sequel’s timeline is in the larger series. The horror-thriller continues the journey of the Abbott family as they are forced to venture out into the outside world after the events of the first film and learn the sound-hunting aliens aren’t the only danger out there. John Krasinski returns to the director’s and actor’s chairs for A Quiet Place 2 alongside Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds, all of whom star alongside franchise newcomers Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.

Released in April 2018, A Quiet Place was a major critical and commercial success for Paramount, grossing over $341 million against its estimated $20 million budget. After initially rejecting the idea of coming back for a sequel, Krasinski began brainstorming and scripting an idea for a follow-up later that year. He officially signed on to direct the following February with all four leads set to return. Originally set to come out in 2020, A Quiet Place 2 saw multiple release changes due to the global pandemic, but will finally arrive in theaters on May 28 and on Paramount+ 45 days later.

With just under two weeks left until the highly-anticipated release, Paramount brings viewers a new featurette for A Quiet Place 2 that explores where the Abbott family was in the first film and how they managed to survive. The video also offers a tease of where both stories sit in the overall timeline of the franchise. The video can be viewed below:

There’s been a lot of unknowns regarding the story of the sequel, with Murphy and Hounsou’s characters still generally being kept secretive in the film’s marketing. One thing that has been known is viewers will be treated to a glimpse of the first day of the invasion. It will also pick up directly after the events of the original film, and the new video confirms this. While trailers have indicated potentially stronger creatures that seem to come out of nowhere, the decision to head back to the origins of the invasion could at least offer a look at the variant creature that helps make this deadlier transition in A Quiet Place 2 a little smoother.

Audiences have been waiting a long time to see whether A Quiet Place 2 can live up to the high standard set by its predecessor. If early reviews are any indicator, viewers will certainly not be let down by the sequel. It’s been praised for the introduction of Murphy’s character and building on what made the first a hit. Luckily, audiences won’t have to wait for long to judge for themselves when A Quiet Place Part II hits theaters later this month.
