Superman has been through some harrowing events before, but his most recent adventure through space has rocked him to his core. To save the Earth, Clark journeyed through a singularity, only to wind up lost in space, trillions of light years away from home.
Relative to Earth, Superman was only gone a day, but for him, it’s been a 20-year journey home. Since returning, Clark has been colder and distant as he struggles to readapt, haunted by the experience. And Lois Lane has been doing everything she can to find some way of bringing her husband back to normal.
Lex Luthor Just Gave Lois Lane Cancer to Challenge Superman
In Superman: Lost #7 by Christopher Priest, Carlo Pagulayan, and Lee Weeks, Lois Lane meets with Superman’s most bitter enemy, Lex Luthor. After a few words, Lex cuts to the chase and says what Lois is thinking: She wants him to do something dramatic that will help Superman snap out of his funk. Lex agrees and reveals that his work is already done because he’s used micro-targeted radiation to give Lois pancreatic cancer. Lex calls it a “devil’s bargain” and asks her to get a second opinion and to tell Superman when she’s sure. A somber trip to a doctor reveals that Lex was not lying and that Lois does indeed have cancer.
As the number one enemy of Superman, Lex Luthor has done some pretty reprehensible things over the years. He’s tortured people, destroyed Metropolis and even killed Kryptonians. While it’s definitely not out of character for Lex to do something like this, giving Lois cancer is far beyond the pale. Not only did he make Lois sick, but he also gave her one of the most aggressive and insidious diseases on Earth. Superman has always held back when it comes to Lex. But now that Lex has seriously endangered Lois, Clark might do the unimaginable.
Lex Luthor is About to Provoke Superman Like Never Before
Superman has put up with a lot from Lex Luthor and knows how little Lex values life. But Lois is the person Superman loves more than anything and Lex has effectively handed her a death sentence. Clark might finally break out of his slump, but he might also greatly overreact when he finds out what Lex has done. Superman’s already dealt with a lot of heartbreak and pain in the twenty years it took to get home. Discovering his enemy gave Lois cancer might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for Clark and cause him to take down Lex permanently. Superman: Lost #7 is on sale now.
