90 Day Fiancé: Will Deavan’s Mother Ever Accept Her Daughter’s Choice To Live In Korea?

90 Day Fiancé: Will Deavan’s Mother Ever Accept Her Daughter’s Choice To Live In Korea?

Will Deavan Clegg’s mother, Elicia, of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way ever accept that her daughter will be living in South Korea? The outspoken grandparent is not thrilled with her daughter’s life decisions and thinks she may be making a mistake.

In last week’s episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, viewers watched Jihoon Lee storm out of a dinner with Deavan Clegg because she gave him an ultimatum and made up her mind to leave and go back to the United States if he did not get his act together. The mother of two was furious that her second trip to South Korea went so wrong, and that Jihoon again was not able to support his family. Fans were appalled at the fact that the young Korean worked a part-time job so he could nap, instead of looking for more permanent work.

On this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way it seems Jihoon’s mom, Jung, and Deavan’s mother, Elicia, are more invested in the relationship than their own children are. The Korean and American mothers were told by Deavan that they both needed to back off and let herself and Jihoon make the decisions.

The August 10 episode showed the whole family more at ease after the couple found a rental home in a great neighborhood, complete with a park. Up until Drascilla decided to run into traffic, the day went well. While Jihoon has been under scrutiny for his lack of fathering, some fans think it is time for his mother-in-law to back off. Overprotective Elicia made it known to cameras that she hoped her son-in-law would not have step up so she could bring her daughter and grandchildren back to the United States. She still does not feel that Jihoon is capable of providing for his small family.

Many TLC viewers agreed with Deavan’s choice to tell both sets of parents to back off. The couple needs to learn to work together and rely on one another, rather than external help. Hopefully, Elicia leaves Korea soon. Fans are afraid she will still try to convince her daughter to come back home, rather than allowed Deavan to make her own decisions.

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way airs Monday at 9 pm EST on TLC.
