Mike and Ximena initially revealed to the viewers that they met on a dating app after Mike changed his location to meet people outside of his home state of New York. This led to him stumbling across the profile of an attractive Colombian single mother, Ximena. However, the most recent episode revealed that Ximena was working as an online adult entertainment worker (or camgirl) when Mike discovered her profile. This led to an infatuated Mike pursuing a relationship with Ximena and offering to pay for her necessities such as rent if she quit camming to be with him exclusively.
Many Before the 90 Days viewers are furious that the truth about Mike and Ximena only came out because Mike was trying to shame the mother. It was Mike who revealed Ximena’s past occupation when they were fighting, as Ximena said she could provide for herself and her family. Mike then tried to humiliate her in front of her family and viewers alike, though Ximena calmly told Mike that he had met her because he had been on the website while she was working. However, it was also Mike who asked Ximena to conceal the truth about their relationship to the cameras. Though Mike is ashamed of how he met Ximena, she made it clear that her occupation is not shameful to her.
Ximena told the cameras that Mike offered to help her stop working in adult entertainment. This completely changes the perception of Ximena and Mike’s relationship, as Mike previously led viewers to think that Ximena had quit her job to allow him to pay her rent, seemingly because she was mooching off of him financially. Now, viewers see the truth behind Mike encouraging Ximena to quit her job and offering to pay for her. It appears that Mike wanted to preserve his reputation and come across as a generous man on a dating app as opposed to an infatuated client on an adult entertainment website. Ximena, who may be in a new spin-off, made it clear that it was Mike who chose to present a false narrative and that she agreed to go along with it until he exposed the truth to try and shame her.
Ximena is currently being praised by Before the 90 Days viewers for recognizing her worth and not settling for less with Mike. Ximena has maintained her composure and refused to let Mike shame her for her occupation. In contrast, viewers have slammed Mike for telling Ximena that he was the best thing she ever had and for claiming she would be on the streets without him.
